Where state u guys in? Im doing a s13 subframe swap and cant find a fab to do it for me 😅
@Unusual_ryan Жыл бұрын
Wisconsin, it’s gonna be kinda hard to find someone able to do this because it’s pretty custom. They do make a kit for this swap but welding and cutting and boxing in is still necessary

Hey, what’s up quick question are these pushing is installed upside down or they meant to be installed that way
@Unusual_ryan4 ай бұрын
@@95_drifter I used it as a shim cause it was the perfect height. The kit does come with other shims that I placed where the bolt is.

Apex Rear SubFrame or S13 Conversion?

@@iiXtcy i personally cannot make a far opinion because I haven’t seen anyone around me that has ran the Apex subframe.

What's the advantage of going to a s13 subframe?
@Unusual_ryan2 жыл бұрын
A lot more adjustments paints for a better alignment set up. The factory Z31 subframe only has 1 adjustment on each side.
@ukrarex2 жыл бұрын
@@Unusual_ryan gotcha, not having camber adjustment does suck on stock z31 subframe. thanks for the reply.

Hey, did y'all know this swap is the same as doing a Nissan S12? I'm watching this to research this swap into my S12.
@Unusual_ryan2 жыл бұрын
Man I wish I knew. Is there any groups on FB for forums? We obviously had to modify this subframe to fit and we made our own pick up points. So you might have to do the same.

@@Unusual_ryan Having the Chilton manuals confirmed that the trailing arm suspension is 1:1 between the z31 and s12. Unfortunately, I'm off of Facebook almost exclusively these days, but there are groups for S12 knowledge transfer and part sales. Though, the clubs12 forum is much more dedicated to long term discussions. But I'm planning to follow this as a guide for the adaptation because the consensus is that the s13 subframe has to be lengthened in the front, rear picups need to be custom fabbed to the chassis, and the chassis needs to be strengthened to accept a true coilovers. All of which you've done very well!
@Unusual_ryan2 жыл бұрын
@@snakezulu7 well then I’d imagine you can either make the kit yourself which is cheaper ( if you have the material and tools) or you can buy the kit for the z31. pastpowerparts.com/shop/suspension-steering/su056-0033-do-it-yourself-d-i-y-s13-chassis-subframe-swap-kit/ You can also use s14 subframe but if I remember the s14 coils are longer. So I’d recommend using s13 if you are already doing s13 front suspension also. But thank you! Means alot!

@@Unusual_ryan Oh, I saw that one as well, but the price point for what you get doesn't reason out to me. Luckily, I've got competing resources for steel and fasteners in my immediate area, so at this point the hardest part is exactly what y'all said it would be: measuring and doing the work. Oh, and finding parts. Thus far, I've sourced everything except a diff...which people want a lot of money for. lol Thank you for taking the time to talk to me about this...but I have more questions. 😅 Can you confirm something for me? The IRS version of the S12 has a long nose R180 in it, which I suspect is very similar to the diff from the Z31. Is a R180 doable with the S13 subframe? If you had your druthers, would you stick with a S13 diff or move to a 350Z diff and get Villains axle stubs to make the conversion to that diff work with the S13 subframe and all that?
@Unusual_ryan2 жыл бұрын
@@snakezulu7 I am not sure on length. Haven’t had to worry about that yet. I’m running stock s13 diff for now and see how the gearing feels on track and I’ll go from there
