What up Fam! I use the saddle stitch so often when making leather projects that I figured giving it its own video would help those of you following along! If you like it I will make more individual stitch videos.

if you tap the stitch line with a mallet, firm but not hard enough to dent the leather. It will straighten and set the in the leather. Thanks for all the great videos!

Some more tips: • don't pull too strongly on your threads or you may get ripples in your leather; • always repeat the same exact movements with each stitch: if you go right hand first then left, keep doing that throughout the whole line.

I'm happy to report that not only was this helpful but I used this on modified bike tires for post apoc hip armor. I still need to make the second piece of armor but i'm very happy with how it came out. Thanks Cl3ver

Great video, this is a definite good idea for people new to leathercraft. Since the thread is synthetic, you can hit the cut ends with a lighter or zapper and rub them into the stitch line to ensure they don't unravel or come loose.

Wow, that thread locking trick is great, never thought of that, I'll use ot somehow in the future on somthing. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it literally never occurred to me to used two needles at once to sew something. This is either genius, or some sort of devilry. I'll have to give it a try. Why stab my finger with one needle when I could stab it with two? Brilliant! XD

Saved a ton on a new leather messenger bag because the handle thread split. $5 in supplies and this video did the trick. Thank you

Thank you so much! I have a Knife sheath that has been stitched terribly and lazily by some factory worker. I’m going to restitch it myself before I cut through it accidentally.

You should make the stitching pony. Like a short vid or add onto the beginning of another leather project.

Don't know why you though it would be smart to skip the first steps you took as you can clearly see you had already threaded the needle through the leather before you even began stating what the first step was. As what I can see is you took the left needle and threaded it through the second hole in the leather AND then took the right needle and went through the first hole to begin the whole process. Doesn't make ANY sense to start giving instructions after you've already completed steps like I'm just supposed to know that I was supposed to that.

Usually, you measure the length to be stitched, and multiply that by three. I'm no expert, that's just what I've read before.

Thanks for the video. It would have been helpful to do a few stitches for us, instead of just one so we don't have to keep rewinding to watch the most crucial part.

This method was a fail for me. When I passed the the needle through the hole that had already had the thread pulled through from the other needle, I would often put the needle through the thread itself, causing chaos as I tried, and failed, to tighten the threads.
