Why did I wait till half way through my adult life to discover natural finishes! I hope your wax experience turns out as good as mine. I did 2 coats of shellac; 2nd coat dry to touch but not cured, then wax with scotch pad, dry, buff. Treating my hands to a comfy tool handle is what gets me going, but coffee and chocolate work too!

Thank you for this video. I have a question though, If you stain or paint a wood toy with acrylics, do you have to still then seal with something? I’m not really understanding with all the research I’ve done. My goal is to stain some wood animal characters for my baby…but I want it to be safe for him to put in his mouth….I plan on mixing the acrylics with water to create more of a stain look, so do I need to seal it with something afterwards? If so , what would your recommendation be?

Hi! That sounds so sweet! I wouldn’t think it a necessity, but would keep it from fading over time. Shellac is a great protective finish!
