Thanks for the great introduction. I've just inherited all my Dad's tools, amongst which is a Fern FF400 Scroll Saw, I didn't know it was a scroll saw until I saw your video, many thanks. I'm cleaning it up and will get new blades etc. ps, love your accent.

Best of luck with the saw! I hope it gives you some enjoyment and helps you feel close to your dad. Working with tools does that for me :). Thanks for watching!

What exactly is MDF. Growing up I was always taught that MDF was just plywood? Is that correct.
@WendellWoodworks13 күн бұрын
Hi! It stands for Medium Density Fiberboard…denser than plywood. It’s not layered, just a lot of wood fibers mixed with I think some kind of resin?

Hey Danielle. Enjoyed your videos and bit the bullet and bought a Pegas. Quick question. Out of the box the blade is not centered in the entry hole. Is this normal or do I need to adjust? Thanks and keep up the great work.
@WendellWoodworks13 күн бұрын
Ooo congrats on the new Pegas!!! It should be fine even if it’s not centered, but you can center it up by adjusting the left screw in tighter :). Hope you love it!

I’m considering getting into scroll sawing this winter as something I can possibly do inside (I’m in MN so the garage gets freezing). I want to do double bevel marquetry. Do you think that with a small dust extractor inside I could make it work? Or is it still too messy
@WendellWoodworks22 күн бұрын
Hmm, I've never tried to keep dust down since I'm out in a messy garage, but I have heard other makers say they use this dust arm that does a pretty good job of sucking it up as it cuts: www.bearwood.com/product8398.html?aff=WENDELL . Might be worth looking into!

Hello Danielle, I would value your advice. I am getting ready to buy a Pegas scroll saw. I’m torn if I should go for the longer bed?
@WendellWoodworks28 күн бұрын
Hey! Congrats! You can’t go wrong either way! Most people would say to always go bigger if you can. I don’t think you’d regret it. That said, I’m more than content with my 21” and because I have such a small workshop with limited space, I probably wouldn’t upgrade to a bigger one even if I could :). Whatever works best for your needs and space! If you order from Bearwoods and use the code WENDELLWOODWORKS , it should take off 5%! ;).

Use Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades and learn to master spiral blades. They are great for intricate curvy pieces

Great video… except for one thing… it looks like you are using Masonite not Hardie Board. Hardie Board is cementitious and would eat a scroll blade. Please advise your viewers not to try Hardie Board! Again love your channel and your videos. I hope this helps.

@@johnhamilton4115 thanks for watching! I was actually using “hardboard”…at least that’s what it’s labeled as at Lowe’s/Home Depot. Did I say hardie board?! 😅. Yea, that is different!

Hi! I still use wood glue but also apply some super glue for a quick bond. Always dab it in another scrap piece prior to avoid it spreading out on the piece. Hope that helps!
