My first car seat had a cover on top also But I was not able to take the top off I had to use the water hose in my kitchen sink with water and sponge but I was able to take everything else off I hope I was helpful have a great week and thanks for stopping by

Don't listen to this woman. The buckle comes out way easier than she demonstrates and you'll end up ripping your seat if you pull it through the whole. Just find the bottom of the buckle under the seat and you'll figure it out.
