Excellent video. The pain and suffering inflicted on runners by the "barefoot natural running" shoe industry telling everyone to just go out and run on their forefoot cannot be overestimated. People naturally run on forefoot for short distances if fit and strong enough to be able to sprint. Many recreational runners are not like this. As a male runner returning to running in my late 70s, who has long suffered from calf strains and archilles tendinopathy, I've found that at the slow speed I can currently run at, concentrating on good form by avoiding overstriding, landing under center of body mass, and mid foot striking is a much better and more enjoyable way to run injury free.

Form is so key to avoiding injury and feeling better during runs. Great to hear about your running and showing that running is for everyone if you have the consistency and follow through. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the video and the great information. I remember in 2012 and 2013 that Newton shoes were the rage and they forced landing on the forefoot by weighing down the forefoot of the shoe with "lugs." I wonder what the injury rate for people switching over to those was.

I remember those too! Shoes are the tool, our bodies are the machine. If we fix the machine the shoes become less important.
