Morning, perfect timing for me. I was just ask by a customer with a porcelain tub that needs to be glazed, he heard that porcelain tubs older that 1984 [ which he has] may release some lead dust upon sanding? Being a rookie in this business , uncertain if this is plausible? Trying to do the research, from your experience have you ever encountered a question similar ? Do you still use primer on say pink or blue tile surround ? Just knock down the color a bit ?

Great question but No, these are porcelain coated steel tubs. The word is “enamelled”, meaning “to cover”, and this is “covered” with porcelain.
