Pete, Thanks for all the information, instruction and product knowledge from the primer, sander, to the type of block and what’s used on it. I have a case of flat black for guide coat and yet 2 cans of power guide coat for hood, doors, fenders and other areas that will show the prep work, because like you say, your prep is your paint job. If prep is not done correctly it will show in your finish. Thanks kindly for sharing your knowledge! God bless your videos. DK, Omaha.

I love this channel. Pete is 100% right. I learned a lot of this from people I did body work with for years. Today I learned one thing from Pete, and it's Black Diamond sanders. Such a valuable channel and creator

Hey Pete well I have watched you and Minnie for a few years and l op be the vids and I always thought that if you could just control yourself a bit a be the teacher you can be that you should develop a larger audience. Don’t respond to haters ignore them and keep it clean and informative more people will cling to that! And for those fewer who want a bit of ruff under the feathers fine but not on diy channel. I have learned a lot from your videos and watch and always like and have been a subscriber. May god always be in your corner.

Good stuff, Pete. Thanks Watching the video made me think of the challenges of the transition points for base/clear, if you were painting inside of door and jams. Do you paint inside areas an inch or so short of door edge, stop, mask painted area, then paint outside of door, around edge to the tape? How do you hide the tape lines, etc. Hope that made sense. Maybe an idea for a future video. I restore vintage motorcycles, a very small part of what I do is paint. I paint undersides of fenders, and tanks, then the top sides, haven't really had luck doing them all at once. Also starting bodywork on my old convertible Sport Fury Convt, your experience has been been very helpful, thanks again.

I remember Pete once said primer dust is worse than bondo from health perspective. Always wear dust mask when sanding primer.

Once you get the sanding done, are you going straight to basecoat clearcoat? Or primer seal then basecoat clearcoat?

Yes

I'm restoring a 65 lemans/gto, i priced those black diamond sanding blocks & no way can I afford $100 per block. Any substitutes? It's a one-time job. I don't do this for a living.

I was going to suggest my 8" bondo hog and 36 grit to get the guide coat off, just slightly faster than 180.
