You are becoming just as thrifty as the Dutch themselves. Congrats with that. My own philosophy has always been that I have little influence over the height of my income, but that I am fully in charge of my expenses. So when I can not increase my income, I can cut my expenses. Therefore, at he end of the month it is not the height of my income that determines my savings but the difference between what comes in and what goes out.
@MakingitinHolland3 жыл бұрын
It’s really important to control your expenses, that’s the first step and then the second step is to find ways to increase your income (if you want). Sounds like you’re on track.

That was definitely worth waiting for! Great video, so well structured. I myself don't have problems saving, 30% of netto income goes to the saving account in the beginning of each month. And I have a specialised excel-based household book for my whole budget. But saving isn't investing 😉 Would be absolutely lovely to hear your tips on investment, Gulce
@MakingitinHolland3 жыл бұрын
Yes! The first part is saving which is the first step. And sounds like you’re already doing great in that area. In the coming weeks I’ll be sharing my investment strategy as well. I’m still thinking about how to best structure that. Any specific things you’d like to know?
@marias.36043 жыл бұрын
@@MakingitinHolland well e.g. I am a risk averter, so my challenge is - i am not keen on taking the money that i earned by years of hard work and just invest into some crazy adventure and eventually loose it. I understand that it's not wise, but am too frugal, though am not Dutch 😉
@MakingitinHolland3 жыл бұрын
@@marias.3604 I think you're definitely not alone. The only downside of not investing at all is that your hard earned money every year loses value due to inflation (even if the inflation is small every year, it adds up). So it's a good idea to find a not too risky way of investing. Actually, most investing is kind of "boring" and not very risky. That's how Warren Buffett became one of the riches men in the world. He had a super boring investment strategy.
@marias.36043 жыл бұрын
@@MakingitinHolland you are right Gulce. In my case my company increases the salaries yearly to cover the inflation. But of course having a personal investment strategy is something worth having

Awesome video as usual. just a request if possible for important names, if you could put the names or logos on the screen as a list or in the description. It would be easier to then research it myself, especially if you are an expats had to rewind a couple of times to get ABN Amro's name 😂😂😂. you could use the nice empty white wall like in this video. Also, the quality is so much better now with the new mic.

What’s the name of the budget tracking app from your bank? And sorry, how do you spell the name of that luxury store you mentioned? Thank you!!
@MakingitinHolland3 жыл бұрын
Hey Alexandra, the app is called Grip and it’s developed by ABN Amro bank. From what I know you can use the app even if your bank account isn’t with ABN Amro. The luxury department store is called De Bijernkorf (there’s sale going on there right now actually).
