How did you get so smart so young?? I wish I had been as frugal minded in my younger days. As a 65 year old grandma, I have many regrets about how I handled money in my past. I am from the "we need it all...now!" generation. You are just adorable and I love your videos. Thanks!

Susan Robinson I'm right there with you, Susan. A 65 year old baby boomer with many regrets about how I handled money in my past. Retirement sneaks up on us and it could have been so much sweeter!

I just made a wishlist and also wrote down all the things I had bought and gotten as gifts within the last 2 months.... wow. I realize now that I have so many unread books, unplayed sheet music etc already.... it really shifted my focus to being thankful for the things I have and to really enjoy them before even considering buying more stuff. and the prospect of saving money in the long run by waiting some time before buying stuff... love it. Implemented it right away. Thanks, Budget Girl!

This is a really good idea! My husband keeps a small list of things that I say I want so that he has ideas for me around Christmas. Ironically, when that time comes, I end up not wanting the majority of those things anymore! Waiting until later to buy things is definitely a budget saver and then you end up with things that you really, truly want!

I really love this video. Inspired by this I decided to write a wish list in my new diary/planner (I haven't bought one for years - I have achieved so much!) Anyway, as I starting writing my list I noticed they were places I wanted to visit (nationally and internationally)...one of my "goals" for 2017 is do more things that make me happy. TRAVEL is most certainly one of them. Even it's a day trip, it's something. I have been slowly adopting a more "intentional" way of living which includes budgeting, being mindful of money and frugality. I have somewhat done spurts of it over the years but have never really stuck to it because life has gotten in the way. This year I took a long hard look at our position and I have to say it needs a lot more improvement. Keep up the great work you have been doing so well!

Excellent!! I was just teaching my 17yo son that this week. I talked with him about not EVER buying wants the same day. To have a wait period. He does have the money saved, but that doesn't negate thought into purchases and the wait period. Sooo many things are just impulse buys for so many people and regrets later. In the end, it's my sons decision but he's a smart boy and worked hard for his money and so he saw the wisdom. By the way, I love what you are using as end tables now. Very cute.

I have always kept wishlist and oddly enough it has been one of the ways I have saved money on one of my biggest passions 'books' I am now using the library again [as I did as a child] and am starting to put it out to the universe that I will recieve what I need at the right time.

Yay excited for your Q&A! Here are some suggestions for questions: Are you in a relationship or how have previous partners you've been with responded to you being so well budgeted? & Are you more of an extrovert or introvert? How would you prefer to spend your free time? & Do you like where you live and want to stay there? Thanks!

This is a very wise idea. I think if I had learned to delay gratification in this way years ago, I wouldn't have racked up a load of credit debt that it took me years to dig my way out of. Very smart -- I'm going to begin a wish list of my own. Thank you for sharing!

I'm a new subscriber from the UK and this video switched a light bulb on for me as this is what I think would really help me achieve both better control of my finances and stop my impulse buying which has caused the financial blips. Congrats on paying off your small student loan on Friday and I look forward to more videos this week. My question is which other you tubers do you like to watch?. Lisa

What a great idea, love this video! I started a list on a chalkboard in our kitchen last year and it was helpful to my family when they were wondering what to get me for bday or Christmas. Really helps you learn delayed gratification!

Love this ! Especially the gratitude part - so many time " budgeting/ saving" I get down and feeling deprived . Now I've wrote down some needs and wants ( wish list) and circled on my debt free journey paper amounts for rewards - Thank you !!!🌷🌷

I've found this has helped me so much with spending money that I don't need to! It really helps you resist the urge. Pinterest can have a similar effect for me as well because then I can look at the item to my hearts content and usually I get bored with it before I even buy it! Maybe I should do this with my pregnancy cravings to help resist those impulses as well... ;)

I love when you said "I just turned myself into a professional" hahaha. That's how I feel about cutting hair. I do my own and Chris's so I'm a professional dangit! Haha. I don't even know where I would start with this. Chris has always been the wanter, but I never have been. I'm even struggling to build a wedding registry. Things come up when then they are more of a need and that's what I consider consider a want so idk...

SUCH a great video!!! I keep a wish list, too. love how you "turned yourself into a professional car cleaner." Ever considered turning yourself into a professional for hire? Not sure what the market is like in your area, but that seems like a service that people would be worth top dollar.... CONGRATS on paying off your small student loan on Friday!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! (Can't wait for your "get to know budget girl" video. I've been meaning to do one myself....)
