Thank you so much. My question is how to pollinate when growing indoors
@PlantLifeYT5 ай бұрын
That is an excellent question! I grow mine outdoors, so I have no personal experience. Researching the topic shows that most varieties (except yellow) self pollinate by a simple breeze or through various pollinators. I would imagine you could experiment with tapping the stem such as a method used with tomatoes or use a cotton swab to collect pollen and then apply it to the stigma. These are all guesses however.

Thank you. This is my experience as well. I grow indoors and I have a mustard plant that I absolutely love the spiciness of the leaves. I have no idea what kind of mustard seed because it came in a mix with about a thousand other seeds. Therefore, I was able to isolate the mustard leaves and it grew into its own plant in a separate container. But now I want to preserve the seeds.

We have a beautiful golden frill mustered green accidentally and it smells so nice. I'm hoping to collect seed from it and grow more next year. Thank you for the information about when to collect them

What is bolt or volt or molt?...I live in FL so they grow year round here..bugs a problem in the summer though...

Ahh .bolt...
@PlantLifeYT Жыл бұрын
Bolting describes an edible, frost-tolerant plant like lettuce, cilantro, or other greens quickly going to seed, before we would like. Signs that your plant might be bolting are when it gets taller than its maturity height and flower heads appear. In many cases, these changes make the vegetable flavor bitter, stems or roots woody, and, in general, unpalatable. Often when the weather heats up, plants in full sun will bolt. If you have plants in partial shade, they might not go to seed (bolt) and can be harvested year long.

I have a lot of mastard seeds but the folks in my place doesn't' used to use it. They don't even know that thing. For I have been used it before, I wander where or how I have to put it. Now days I can only use the leaves.

If I save seeds from a hybrid, non heirloom can I still plant them and get mustard greens?
@PlantLifeYT Жыл бұрын
Most likely. It won’t have the exact same properties as the mother plant, but it will still be a mustard green.

@@PlantLifeYT. Thank you so much. I started seriously gardening last summer but have recently learned it’s best to get heirloom for seed saving. I have a good bit of hybrid seed and I hate for them to go to waste.
