The "v" is often pronounced like "f", and "w" is pronounced "wuh", but with your mouth shaped to say "v". It sounds weird, but it works.

i have a conundrum and need help. my friend just had a daughter. he wanted to name her after the river in the netherlands. it pronounced EYE-SELL. two foreign friends of his told him to spell her name AISEL. i looked up the spelling of aisel on google and it gave aisel as meaning two bad words. i looked up the river and it is named IJSSEL [pronounced eye-sell]. i need to know the english spelling of this river IJSSEL. or....is IJSSEL the english spelling of this river? i am hoping someone can help me. he can't keep the spelling AISEL for his daughter if it is a bad word in the dutch language. of course he can't. so please help us if you can. thank you!

I can just about tell the difference, but the difference is different each time I hear her say it. At first I thought it was something to do with the length of the "ay" sound in "vay". Then when she tried to explain the difference at around 4:02, it seems the difference is "V" is "fvay" or "fay" while "W" is a normal, hard "vay".
