Yes certainly can! Smaller the distance is better for you but make sure to shoulder check get a habit of it!

I think the most importantly as you are receiving the ball, your body needs to be at an angle already. So if you are receving the ball, your back is facing the opposition this is wrong. You need to be aware where your opposition is behind and wait for the ball at an angle where you already planned your exit from that position! I mean to train my head up. I mean messi with a real Madrid player. He lift up his head. Another example the player with tee shirt yellow, he look his ball and after that he's lift his head up. Is that what I mean.
