Hi Brenda....glad to see that your leg is functional again but be careful. Great video. Here in northern New Jersey, near NYC, the Milky Way has been replaced by the Milky Sky. The light pollution here is terrible. Anyway stay safe in your travels and adventures and give your dog a pat on the head for me.

Thanks, Robert - will do! Atticus loves pats. Hope you can escape the Milky Sky sometime soon ;). Stay well!

Fantastic and loved your companion. Glad you have your D810 back. Keep up the great videos.

Thanks, Fred! The D810 and Tamron lens magically started working again after about 5 months of a consistent error. No idea what is causing this somewhat intermittent issue (it started last fall), but I just invested in the Z7 so that I have more than one camera body - should arrive any day!

Brenda, This was such an enjoyable video! Educational, and great story telling - the best of both worlds! I took me some time to find a moment to sit and watch without distraction, but it was well worth the wait! Atticus seems to want a co--star role! You are creating a body of educational video work worth frequent revisiting. Thanks!~

Brenda, at this time many of the photography bloggers are introducing videos on the coming meteor shower and not surprisingly yours is the most informative, clear to understand and concise. It doesn’t surprise me. Even though down here in New Jersey I can’t get out but I did save both your videos (the other being the PhotoPills # 14) for a future outing. Thank you.

Outdoor Photography School with Brenda Petrella Brenda, with over 10,000 deaths here in Jersey things are really bad. Been in lockdown for over twelve weeks now; I’ll give you an idea how bad. I only leave my home to go to Walgreens or the bank and it’s not unusual too get pulled over whereupon the police 👮♀️ don’t ask you for Drivers license, registration and insurance Card but rather - “Sir, where are you going,” when I respond “Walgreen’s “ they say; okay but go straight home afterwards or I’ll give you a Summon’s. Now that’s bad, but understandably necessary. Photography? We’ll see. Ralph

Brenda, love your explanations, teaching...HELP!! Half of getting the shot is post processing! HOW to blend, stack, merge (Dont understand the differences.) a set of 10 images of the milky way with comet racing through the center WITHOUT losing the progression of the comets tail.....????? Please do some tutorials on how to process your night images? What is the order of things. CAn I stack creating one image and then process for noise....if you want to edit the image can you create one image then edit or do you edit each image first....Just so much to know and no where to go to find a decent turotial????HELP!!

Hi Brenda! Thanks for the video, it was very helpful!! Would you recommend to shoot landscape or portrait? Let's say you us a full frame camera with a 14mm lens, what would your recommendation be? Thanks!
@outdoorphotographyschool73664 жыл бұрын
Hi Josep - it' all depends on what your composition will be and if it will include anything with the sky (rather than the sky alone). I tend to do portrait mode because that allows me to get a little higher in the sky than with landscape mode, and sometimes (not always) the meteors that are more overhead are easier to see (mostly because of any light pollution on the horizon or humidity). But, really, either orientation will work.

Wonderful as always Brenda 👍 I have a canon 16-35 f4 lens with a 6D. I have never tried astro photography before, but as I have moved to a dark sky location I’m keen to try shooting the perseids. I know ideally I need a faster lens, but I have to use what I’ve got, so can you recommend a starting point for me for ISO with that lens/body combination? Thank you.
@outdoorphotographyschool73664 жыл бұрын
Hi John - I would do a series of test shots before you spend a few hours shooting the meteors to test the settings if you can. It's MUCH easier to see any star trailing and noise on a computer than on the rear LCD display. I would start around ISO 2000 (instead of 1600), and go up from there to about 6400 to test how much noise you get. Shutter speeds will likely be in the 15-25sec range. Hope that helps!
@jonkers20074 жыл бұрын
