Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. The foils hold up the best actually if we compare metallic plastisol inks to heat transfer foils. They hold their luster and metallic look much better than most metallic plastisol inks will. But your transfer application will determine how well the foil adheres to the shirt. So you just have to make sure you’re applying the foil correctly and it should hold up very well throughout washings for many years. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Thank you very much for the kind words. I’m happy to help out and share information anytime. Normally with plastisol inks it’s purely a matter of curing. I would check the cure first and make sure the entire ink layer is reaching 330 F for up to a minute or so depending on ink thickness. If you are printing heavy cotton in a humid region then you can preheat the garments to reduce humidity which will help the final cure. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Most will suggest to let it cool for best adhesion but this stuff was sticking to the adhesive when I laid it over just to cut it to size. I’ve never really let foils cool much and I have had no problems with adhesion. If you have any problems with the foil sticking then let it cool and use a rag to rub down the foil over the adhesive with slight pressure. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

@CatspitProductions 12 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, cooling will help with adhesion. You can even rub it down with a cool rag to help out. But not all foils need cooling to work well. Many foil techniques are done on press immediately after flash curing where the foil is presses and pulled up very quickly by hand as the press is often running. In my case I had some stray foil dust that came off with the foil transfer and had to be dusted away. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Jonathan, I have a piece of artwork that I want to print using foil and plastisol. It's a two color print, planned to be either red foil and white ink or, vise versa, silver foil with red ink. What I'm asking is, is there a trick or a technique to achieve the desired look without having to take the shirt off the press? For instance, print the ink or adhesive for the foil first, iron the foil to the shirt and then finish printing the design. Am I making sense? What are your thoughts? THANX! Eric Millikan

not sure if its the textile weave showing through the foil at the end, if you printed a base, white etc. under the foil adhesive would the foil have a smoother finish maybe? Can you print the adhesive over printed colors or over white plast..?
@CatspitProductions

Most heat transfer foils will adhere to any color plastisol ink. The foil adhesive is used because it has a better ability to adhere to the foil. The finish of the foil will only be a smooth as the finish of the under print. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

Hi Catspit! was wondering if you could just use plastisol ink itself as the adhesive for the foil. i heard it could be done. are they full of it? thanks.
@CatspitProductions
@CatspitProductions 9 жыл бұрын
doubleddrummer That is true for some foils. If it's a good foil it will adhere to any plastisol ink or foil adhesive. Many people actually print the same color ink as the foil so that as the shirt ages and the foil eventually comes off it will still have the right color underneath. It should stay on for many years but it will ultimately crack and flake as it becomes brittle. But by that time the user of the shirt will likely have lost interest in it ;) Thanks for watching. How do you take out the wrinkles on the foil, already printed on the shirt. I have a sweater with printed on foil but it's fairly big. I don't think you can do anything. If the foil is wrinkled or cracked, it will never be smooth and shiny like when you first bought it. Actually that is not always the case. I think higher quality foils will work better than this one. You can actually apply this stuff on press as the shirts pass a flash cure unit. In bigger shops they slow down the automatic press enough so someone can do this during printing. It’s pretty amazing and I have worked with foils in the past that peel hot and perfectly crisp. So I suppose it depends on the foil. I tried this foil cool, did the same thing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

I have no idea. That heat press is very old. Most any halfway decent press will work. It’s a very simple machine so it depends on the luxuries you want. I sell inexpensive imported heat presses and they are just fine. Work very well. I think what you want to avoid is very, very cheap units or all in one type heat presses. $240 is pretty cheap. But I don’t necessarily endorse or recommend Hix. I got this one for free years ago. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠

how does foil hold on washing machine? will it flake off?
@CatspitProductions
@CatspitProductions 9 жыл бұрын
+Alan Phung It holds up pretty well but after years of wearing and washing it will ultimately start breaking down. Sometimes sooner. It also depends on how you wash it. Inside out, gentle cycle with Woolite ;) LOL.... you get the picture. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

What temperature should the heat press have on?

+The Word Designs I would check with the makers of your specific foil product for technical assistance. I don't recall the specifics of this video so many years later but I should have mentioned the temp in video. I normally do ;) Thanks for watching. You can get foils from many vendors online. I have a promo code for RhinoTech and they sell foils that work with screen printed adhesives or plastisol inks. The question is if they can or will ship to you. You can always ask. See the Catspit KZbin channel page for the link to the RhinoTech page on the Catspit site and get promo code. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

The white liquid is a plastisol foil adhesive ink. The foil is a heat transfer foil. It’s all in the video I think. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Actually that was not the case with this foil. It really did the same thing hot or cold. And not all foils need to be cold peeled. A better quality foil can be peeled hot and work perfectly. That’s why many automatic printers do spot foiling on press immediately after the flash cure. The foil is applied hot by hand and works fine. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠

+Nattapon Lohajoti Pretty sure I tell you all that in the video but it does not matter. This was a sample from Turkey. You cannot buy it in the States. But any name brand foil adhesive should work fine. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

Real 100% denim is 100% cotton so it's just like printing a shirt. Might need more heat to cure perhaps due to the heavy denim but pretty much the same. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

Cool Peel.

Some are cold peel and some are hot. Depends on the product. Hot peel foil is used on automatic presses because there is no time for cooling down. Often the foil is applied directly after flashing by hand. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

I don’t. I have not done much foiling recently. That’s why this was a sample. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
