Thanks, glad you found my video helpful. I am quite modest and I suppose I don't give myself the credit I maybe should. It was a good scribe 😁

Brilliant, bloody brilliant. And you've put links of all the tools I need. Now I can do the job without crying over not having a garage full of specialised carpentry equipment. Thank you so much for providing the most helpful video I've come across.

I use a Magnusson scribing gauge which I picked up at a local Screwfix (very accurate) which works a treat for this sort of job. Another idea would be to finish all the scribing and cutting and then paint the rad cover.
@spendtimesavemoneydiy4 жыл бұрын
Cliff Carlo some great advice there. If I'm doing a radiator cover for my house I do generally scribe before I paint but this one was for someone else so it would have been a pain to scribe it first. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼

Beautiful job! I have a radiator cover with detachable top. In winter it gets bent from the heat even though it is not that close to the radiator. This time I put piece of wood directly on the radiator as a barrier so the to exterior top cover does not bent, but it is starting to bend, any suggestion would be very helpful . thanks
@spendtimesavemoneydiy5 жыл бұрын
TheBandoury if it is wood then maybe replace it with mdf or use angle brackets to screw it down. Let me know how you get on. Thanks for watching and be sure to like, share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
@TheBandoury5 жыл бұрын
@@spendtimesavemoneydiy why replace wood with mdf, what is the difference?
@spendtimesavemoneydiy5 жыл бұрын
TheBandoury mdf is more stable than wood especially over a radiator where there is a big variation of temperature.
@thewannell4 жыл бұрын
@@TheBandoury You could also line the bottom of the lid with a reflective foil, to send the heat back away from the top. That should also help push heat out the vents at the front.

If you wanted to scribe the too shelf to the wall, how would you go about that while keeping the skirting scribe sizes ok? If you get me.
@spendtimesavemoneydiy5 жыл бұрын
Rodger Quinn ok break it down into two jobs! Scribe over skirting as video. Take top off so it's separate, put it in place and set the compass to the biggest gap, keep compass parallel to wall and scribe a line. Cut to the line, each end keep cut square but in the middle you can back cut it slightly. Put it back into place, when you're happy screw it back onto the cover and screw to the wall. Hope this helps 👍🏼
