Very helpful video, thank you for posting it. There are not many good videos on KZbin about this key stage in rendering, so content like this is superb. The technique you highlight is also directly applicable to traditional harling with lime, albeit with a few different products. I've just done 100 sq. m of very friable internal stone walls in my house in preparation for lime plastering Your upload saved me a fair bit of money, so there's a few beers on me if you are ever in West Cork!

@macplastering2 жыл бұрын
lime guys say you should use lime to let the stone breath I have used cement with good outcomes, I think it depends where you are from like lime gets wet but dries out here we don't get much dry so my question is when would lime ever dry out something to think about . I was doing work for an old gentleman before we got talking turns out he was in the trade as a spark but attended plasterers when his work was slack he said they done a barn wall all stone in sand and cement and said if it was lime it would not have lasted he said it was still there 40 years on, at the other side I know a few lime guys say they have done things pout side with great results but also think its not so good and don't truly believe its great for here and better for France Spain Italy where thy get nice dry weather. most the stone i have went over was the builder and home owners choice came down to money, sand and cement is much cheaper..... also I was pricing a job again it was stone I asked the girl who owned the house lime or sand and cement no to lime her friends got it done and said it looked bad and was damp and Pelling , i do get a few lime guys on saying dont use cement on stone as if the stone will be destroyed and sometime brick they say the same but thing is brick falls apart with out sand and cement on it so that makes no sense as it was free to breath also there is larrson water proofers claim it lets air in but nit water and lets air out its breathable sorry i am not sure i have helped you very much here I do mean to do some test on this so we can re visit it every year and see so far i have had time to see how good of a bond sbr is I hope to upload that soon but the stone is still to be started
