This kitty has lots of personality! Great job. I can see why you sold many of the meditation cats!! Thanks for sharing your teaching skill set.

Thank you Jake, I paint resin creatures to customize pictures of loved ones pets, and am having a really hard time finding these figurines. So, I've decided to make my own using clay. You have helped with the basics of molding and blending techniques. So, grateful for your tutorial. If I may ask, how would I make a larger figurine without using so much clay for the base? Do you have any suggestions?

+Urssy's place - Thanks for you comments. You might make a larger cat hollow but I think I would be more trouble than its worth. I would opt for finding an inexpensive source for clay. Many art stores sell pottery clay in bulk for very affordable prices. I buy 25 pounds for about $24. Keep in mind that pottery clay tends to be more fragile than self-hardening clay. Here are a couple links to other cat making videos of mine that might also help you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGHRomd8jNitpLc/ and kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJvGnK2AeJukd80/ Another option is to make molds of your cats and reproduce them which would save you a lot of time. Here is a link for a great KZbin channel for mold making and supplies: kzbin.info - I am pretty certain you could talk with them to get more specific ideas and direction for your project. Thanks again for your comments and let me know if I can help you again.

Thank you for doing this. My son had to sculpt an ocelot for school in a diorama and this is a great start on how to do it. You are very good at what you do and I look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Thank you.

hi Jake...just wondering can this be done with polymer clay as I have just started doing some things but only with polymer clay. I have tried normal clay but I prefer the polymer?

I think it has an adorable face despite you saying it's going to be rough, I am sure most of us would be over the moon with your idea of rough lol. I do know how you feel about the camera though. I can't do things that I do on an every day basis, like type, if someone is watching me or worse, looking over my shoulder! It's off putting so I imagine it's similar to you and your camera. I wanted to make a cat for a 1:6 th scale diorama and I found this excellent video...you are a great teacher..thanks. Lol arms! I say that too!
