Ah, yes, the missing artist technique: mixing clays while holding an infant and a toddler. I would love to hear about mixing beeswax into the clay. I love maquettes, or the idea of them.

Noted! Andrew sees this and I'm sure would love to share that process.

"I bought almost 3 pounds of black clay before watching this video. Chuckles." I'm in danger.

😂 I like dark clays for seeing the outline or silhouette of the sculpture better. This is good for gesture studies especially. Use what you have!

You can melt crayons into the clay

Love you're videos on sculpting! I actually followed this method from one of your other videos on it! I actually found a great deal at hobby lobby on Nara Modeling clay. You can get 6 lbs of clay for around 8.99 right now so I ended up buying 12 lbs and removed the darkest colors and melted it all in a crock pot and it works great!

Please do show us the results of the wax and clay video! Also do you heat the clay over direct heat?

Hey everyone, I just picked up some cheap sculpting clay. It doesn't stick to my hands, but it tends to cling to my tools, making it a bit tricky to work with precise details. I'm still a beginner, so it's possible I just need more practice, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to make the clay less sticky. Thanks a lot!

Does the dollar store clay have any problems with poisoning silicone when making a silicone mold from them. And if not, what type of silicone should I use with it Platinum or tin?
@AndrewJosephKeith Жыл бұрын
I haven't had any issues with mold making but I've used a cheap hardware air dry silicone. Platinum silicone shouldn't have an issue with this clay but it's always a good idea to test out the silicon on a small amount of the clay before trying to mold a larger piece. tin silicone should also be fine but again test before you do a larger sculpture.
