If you missed part 1, you can see that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/faizhJmwZbyAqq8 (HDR Isn't Dead | Start your edits like this!) I pre-recorded this little mini-seies on landscape editing in Luminar so I could drop them to the channel while I'm working hard on the full neo editing course I've mentioned. I didn't realize just how many videos I'd need to make to fully cover all of the features and editing techniques in Neo! 🤯Oh well, I'm in too deep so there's no turning back now! Thanks for tuning in!

Found myself getting very bullied on reddit for using luminar neo. People seem to have this massive hatered for it, but i cant understand why... I find it is great for someone as new to the hobby as me. Im able to make simple edits to my photos and the value is very good 👍 i dont want a bloody subscription and now i have this for life. Its great. Okay... Sometimes the edits can yet a bit artificial but thats more due to my lack of skill than anything

Hi. Yeah, that's a shame. There is a real feeling among a minority that they really don't like Luminar - and they tend to shout the loudest. I think it goes back several years to when Skylum had a couple of business approaches (which they learnt from) that left some users frustrated. That feeling seems to have lingered, You've also got some people that haven't experienced the newer version which is vastly improved over the original releases, but they still judge on their knowledge of the older versions... and sometimes, haters just love to hate... I'm working on the full course at the moment which has given me an opportunity to really go deep into each tool and to me it's cemented the fact that you can achieve just about anything in Neo and often waaaaaaay more simply than using something like Photoshop.

@AnthonyTurnham well I love the channel man I've learned LOADS. Keep it up. I might even get your course I've enjoyed it all so much. Id like to learn a bit more about LUTs. I love my Fujifilm cameras Classic Neg JPEGs but I wish I could recreate that in Luminar with the RAWs

@AnthonyTurnham thanks I think I will. I have this weird problem where my edits will somehow corrupt and make everything go purple... It's very frustrating, I can't find a fix other than re editing everything. It seems to be an issue with the noiseless ai function. I'm hoping it's covered in the lessons.

That was very useful and a lot covered . Hope I have understood all the information and techniques before part three

Again, Anthony, I always learn so much from each of your videos. I will have to re-watch this a couple times to full digest this. But I will let you know this. I was working on an image that I took the day before with my beautiful old Canon FD 50mm f1.4 SSC lens on my R7 body. It was of a single rose but the late day, low angle sun was cracking the lens and making these amazing flares in the scene, I had worked the images pretty well, but the rose (main subject) was still fairly flat because of the flaring and shooting the scene at f1.4. So I was watching this episode hoping to see something new and helpful. Well, you did not disappoint, this episode was exactly what I needed and again, I learned something new. So I applied the new knowledge and suddenly the image went from "OK" to "OH, DAMN!" I just finished printing it with my Canon Printer and what I saw on the screen translated very well to the image I now hold in my hand. Again, thank you for these tutorials! I know I still have a long way to go, but every time I watch one of these videos, I learn something new and useful. I do have a request though, could you do a video on the focus stacking features of LN? I am currently working on a new to me technique of macro photography, Water Droplet Refractions. I am generally working at around 1:1 or greater and the only way to capture all of the amazing scenes is with a focus stack. I have had some basic success, but I feel like there is so much more that this program could do. I have a couple three image stacks that have turned out well, but when I tried a bigger range using 14 images, the program fell apart and produced something not great. Maybe it was me (garbage in, garbage out) but I would love to see what an expert with this program can do. It would be something new and different. Thanks again!

That's great the video helped right on queue for the rose photos! Excellent 😀 And I'm glad it printed well. Can't beat seeing your hard work in a physical print! I'll see what I can do with the focus stacking request but currently I'm burning the candle both ends in a bid to create the ultimate Luminar Neo course and it's sooooo time-consuming. Hence the reason I've pre-recorded a few mini series so I can feed my channel while I'm beavering away on the course. Anyway, thanks for the nice comment. Much appreciated! 😀

@@AnthonyTurnham that's fair. I'm excited to see this big project of your's. It was only a suggestion. Maybe a future video idea. Of course I'll still watch all your content whatever it is. It's all helpful to me at some level. All the best on your big project and do remember to take a break every once in a while. Don't burn yourself out!

@@ChasWG Cheers mate.Yeah a break would be nice. I've should be done by 23rd Nov so I'm looking forward to that. In the meantime, I'm playing my part in keeping the coffee industry thriving I'll keep everyone posted on when the course is out.

Hello and Servus Anthony, thank you for your video. I've already mentioned it once. You surprise me every time with your completely different approach to image editing and the use of various tools. I've never seen it done like this in any other video. I like working with Luminar Neo and your suggestions help me improve my image editing. Best wishes from Purkersdorf near Vienna, Alfred.

Brilliant! As always, a very pedagogical video. It gave me several "aha!'s, e.g. about controlling saturation and about the Vignette tool.

I use dodge and burn for small areas that I want to accent or darken. It works better for me than the tools you mention for that purpose. It doesn't work for all subjects, but it does the job nicely in certain ones.

i use to use d&b when Luminar first came out, but i dont know if it was an update or what, but i dont feel it's as good as what it was...just my 2cents worth.

Hello Anthony You´re able to dublicate the layer and use "luminance" as a layermode...now you can "dodge and burn" without changing the saturation

Instead of using Structure AI at the end, try using it in the beginning. In fact try these first few steps: 1) Noiseless 2) Structure AI 3) Enhance AI 4) Landscape AI -> Golden Hour 5) Landscape AI -> Dehaze Curious to see what you would do after those first steps?

The lack of masking tools in Dodge and Burn, Bokeh AI amongst others is really frustrating. along with the lack of ability to collapse layers are my bug bears with Luminar Neo
