Here's how to sculpt the kind of armour plates seen on Tyranids and Dark Eldar (but also useful for things like Ossiarch Bonereaper armour, I suppose!).
Thank you all for being so patient with my prolonged absence. It takes a lot of work to make these videos, and I wasn't feeling like it was necessarily worth it at first.
However, I am definitely feeling the love now, thanks fully to all you lovely people, and I'm trying to get into a monthly release schedule for these longer videos--hopefully with some quick tips interspersed.
As always, please let me know what you think. Also, let me know what you'd like me to show you how to sculpt--even if you've already made a suggestion on a previous vid, or you've made the SAME suggestion, MULTIPLE TIMES. Hit me up with it again :)

The word you seem to so often be searching for is "Striated". Lotsa lines, muscle tissue etc. Thanks for the vids :)

awesome to have you back on youtube buddy! Love your sculpting vids. They were a great help when I was working on my scratch-built and sculpted ''Prime-Ork'' which I finished a few weeks ago. Thank you for all the helpful tips and advice!

@@ModernSynthesist I covered that and many other projects on my youtube channel mate. Though there's a lot of videos in that specific playlist, since it took me 6 months to finish. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXbPhoKgbM6rqrc

Not your fault. I've apparently done a horrible job advertising it to my loyal Instagram buds. I'm glad you made it over, and just in time for some new content! Thanks for subscribing ♥

Ok! Didn't think of that. It's more about cutting and pinning that sculpting, but could do.

Do you have to use greenstuff and is the cardboard necessary?
@ModernSynthesist
@ModernSynthesist 3 жыл бұрын
You can use any epoxy putty, and the cardboard is not necessary. That was just there for me to sculpt the example on. It stands in for the surface of a model you're sculpting onto.

how does your green stuff look so soft and malleable? I have some GS from an army painter hobby kit and it looks nothing like this, usually mix is probably 60/40 yellow/blue
@ModernSynthesist

Buy new Greenstuff. Honestly. Also, don't get it in ribbon form. As much as possible, try to buy it in two separate parts, usually in tube form. If you can only get it in ribbon form, cut away the part where the blue and yellow are touching and throw it away. Finally, I mix Apoxie sculpt with my Greenstuff, and that makes it softer.

Is there any content that gets posted to Instagram that isn't posted here? I try to use as few social networks as possible, but I'm not seeing anything new on modernsynthesist.com since March 21st of this year.

Interesting question. Instagram is the best place to follow me. No question. However, if you're looking for video, this is the place I post it all. I post only video teasers on Insta. ALL of my modelling work is posted to Insta, and as you see I don't post as frequently on the blog these days, though I've been meaning to get back to it.

So how do you remove the hand cream or vaseline after the model has hardened and is ready to pain?
@ModernSynthesist
@ModernSynthesist 3 жыл бұрын
If you're using Nivea, you don't. I've never cleaned any of my sculpted models, and I've never had a problem with paint adhesion.
