I used pookie on all metal connections to an excess because I wanted to seal my new ducting. Four small flex ducts of less than 6 feet and used 2 nylon straps for the inner and outer for each connection from the main trunk. I learned so much from a Master HVAC while we remodeled my home, perhaps a little OCD, but my ducts are tight and all that extra effort sure made a difference in moving cold air in AZ summers...🥵

Ik old video. No 1 ever uses spray glue adhesive for the taping!!! Makes a huge difference makes the tapes bond and basically won't ever come off.. over time moisture etc... Like you'll see how easily tapes rip off . Gotta have the adhesives..

I was hoping for instruction on how to tape between a Round flex AC duct, and drywall. I was thinking there was some sort of technique where you cut little lines in the outside edge of the tape so that it goes around a circle better or something like that? I tried to just tape it around but doesn’t come out as I think it should, and because it’s going around a circle it tends to leave some gaps.

Yes turn air off, best way just bump AC on automatic up to 86, you'll want it off BC of the condensation not a huge deal though. You could do I while on too really .. you figured this out by now I'm sure lol

Hi I’m sorry I posted an issue with marijuana fumes on my kitchen exhaust range. I forgot to mention that when I cut the pipe. I took the remainder cut portion of the pipe and I rammed it pushed. It forced it inside the hall that is on the top inside of the wood cabinet. Basically inside ceiling. So I forced the pipe in all the way then I put a sheet of plastic around the end and taped it. I don’t know if I forcing the aluminum material on the hose with a lot of force to go inside the hall might have damage or made punctures on the material. Again I just basically just use force to just push it and stuff it all the way inside. Period I’m thinking if I take off the plastic at the end and pull the aluminum piping that was around into the inside of the hall , back out again. As long as there’s not any punctures because of the force that I used to push it in. But I just be able to pull it out again and add an endcap that I purchased at Home Depot and then seal the edges of the endcap with either one of the airtight tapes that you advertise on the video that I saw , thank you

I cut off duct pipe that serves as exhaust pipe on top of my kitchen range. I have a serious issue with marihuana fumes that enter my kitchen area from apartments below me. Im on a private 2 fam home. I have a serious pot head living under me. I got fed up and cut the hvac aluminum hose that enters my cabinets through the inside top of cabinet. And runs down through the inside of cabinet all the way down to my range exhaust on top of stove. I cut the pioe with a box cutter and wrapped the ends in plastic. How ever it doesnt seem to be addressing the fume issue well enough. It seems that fumes and fiberglass strands are seeping through the plastic regardless. How can i correct this and make this pipe as airtight as can be. I was looking at your video with sealing allum tapes. Can you please help me.Additionally I think fiberglass spread into the kitchen cabinets and furthermore into the apartment. Having serious allergic reactions . How can i fix this myself as best as possible. I have a shop vac w heppa filter and 3M particles mask for fiberglass. I’ve tried to vacuum area but itchy burning eyes and congestion in nose continues. Please can someone tell me how to seal point of entry adequately. Thank you!

Typically yes, but not if there is a pre-construction duct work because that could fail the inspection and plus you wanna mastic the flex duct material to the collar, use a panduit strip on top, then put the outer layer over the insulation, panduit over all three on the collar.

Yup and dont forget to spray your spray glue 1st then the tape. . Also ppl slide ducts on too far . You only need a little like finger width, spot weld. Spray glue. You have more bite room for the tape when you dont put on that much. You dont need tons of tape either. With the spray glue, just a couple layers.

Its not about looks really for 1... Sure anyone can dam zip tie a duct or tape a duct on, that does not mean its going to last. Or be sealed proper , just goes to that majority if not all do not do a proper job.. do it right. Clean surface . SPRAY GLUE. Metal tape. Mastic. Boom prepped. Then slide duct just barely on a finger width, spray glue again ALWAYS spray glue for your tape. A couple kayers of duct tape now for the inner duct you just slid on. Done. Now you take the outer liner and curl it in so its neat and the insilation is all the way around no empty spots.. bang cple more layers of duct tape and your done. Mastic. That is the best way youll ever see. It will be sealed forever dam near.and itll look nice too. Chz yea you could use string, a bunjy cord or glue to get the duct on, that dont mean its right or sealed .anywaus hopefully that helps pol live HEALTHIER and happeier!!
