What a awesome tutorial nees! Thanks for the srep by step tutorial. I would like to know the heat source requirements for clay pot cooking. We have a common gas line connection as we live in a gated community. We do not use seperate cylinder. I wish to use claypot, but my husbsand used to say that the pot will break as we use pipe gas connection it generates high flame...which is not suitable for clay pots.

Hello Nees Kitchen, I bought clay pot one normal red and another was fire burnt clay pot so it has a deep brown to black colour. Which one of them is better? The foods cooked in normal red clay pot is kind of having a earthy muddy flavour. The ones cooked in deep burnt pots have no smell and it's like using another metal vessel. I am confused which one is better. Do you have any idea?

On day 3, when d utensils r soaked in rice water, how should I create kanji water for 10 utensils?? It's a bit much. Any tips? 2. Like u can c, I m unable to create rice water for 12 utensils. So, on Day3, instead of rice water, may i soak d utensils in regular water, once again? Will that help? Or shud I directly proceed to drying & oiling stage?? 3. U mentioned v cud use starch water or washed rice water. Here, how long shud I wash rice so that d goodness seeps into the water?? Second hand Claypot means already used one, which means the previous owner should have seasoned it for there use. You are only continuing to use in your kitchen. That's how I see it.

Chinese claypots are either glazed or unglazed. Glazed has chemicals and its quite dangerous to use. Unglazed ones are good but I felt they taste well for Chinese cuisine recipes more than Indian cuisine.

U're such a genius! I soaked the clay pot for 24 hours and the colour didn't come out. Last time I soaked just for about an hour and some clay was still coming out. Hi Nees Kitchen it's me again. Here's what happened. I soaked the pot 24 hours and when I took it out, the water had a slight tinge of orange. I rubbed my hand all over the pot as you did and again there was a slight orange tinge. I did the leak test for 24 hours and the results were about an 1/8 of a cup leaked out. Nees Kitchen! I was amazed, the leakage was a deep, deep orange!! I did not go any further.. What is your take on this Nees Kitchen?

Om Shanti sister ,my clay tawa has cracked after 15 days using....i seasoned well. It was taking more time to cook roti(chapati),I did the flame high after 5 minutes . Roti was cooked very fast bur tawa cracked at the same time. It oozes the oil when I make parathe.........so my question is that should we never do the flame high ?

As far as I understand, most of chapath itawa's are failure models. I have not personally tried due to this reason. So no idea for tawas alone.

Hi, I have been seasoning the pots as you told. But when am trying to clean the pots, I still get the black colour how many ever times am washing ( for my black pots). Same is case with red ones ( how many times ever am washing, water is muddy). I still didn't come to process of applying oil. Is there some problem with my pots or is it common until we apply oil. Please clarify.

A little muddy is fine that's the nature of clay..You cannot get crystal clear water..At the same time it shouldn't be too much muddy. A negligible amount is fine and it will become normal after kanji

I soaked mud pot for e days continuously in rice water changing every day. Third day I just scrubed gently with plain scrub it releases mud color. What it means..is pot not of good quality?

Is it sandy texture particles or liquid color.. There is a difference.. Also I have soaked only 24 hrs so far for all Claypot. Not sure what will happen (if mud particles are coming out) if soaked for 3 days like u did.

How many days are you doing.. Starch too has some properties and we do only 1 day.. I am unable to judge beyond a day how it behaves..

I am a beginner in using clay pots and unfortunately I did not see this video earlier and cooked twice in my clay pot. Now the pot has bad mustard oil smell. What can I do now ?

@@NeesKitchen thanks for help. I tried it and it helped. Smell is gone. But what should I do so that after cooking again the smell wont retain? Shall I boil rice water and later grease it with oil as you have shown in your beginners guide? Also can i use refined oil for greasing instead of coconut oil?

@@NeesKitchen ok.. actually the reason for asking this was I missed these steps initially. I started cooking in the new pot just after soaking it for 2 hrs. I did not used rice water or any kind of greasing. That's why wanted to comfir if I should do that now.

I first time bring clay pots to use but i didn't follow these steps due to unknown. I just dip them in water for about 12 hours and then start using it. What to do now because I bring these clay pots from my home country.can't bring again.what to do
