You need to add water when your humidor humidifier is dry. Determining when it is dry depends on the type of humidifier you use. If you have the sponge type the humidifier will feel very light and empty when you pick it up. The gel-type will look dehydrated and the beads will be small. Boveda packs feel hard when they are dry. If you have an electronic humidifier it will have a warning light or beep at you when it is running out of water.
