In her experience, she has found the best way to secure media opportunities is to simply reach out.
When trying to garner publicity such as interviews and reviews for a faith-based book, Hawkins encourages authors to make a top 20 list of the media outlets where they'd like to secure an opportunity. Gather the information and contacts and do some old-fashioned networking, she says.
In addition, Hawkins recommends that authors have a one-sheet or sell sheet prepared that they can email or leave behind. This is a one-page document that includes essential information about you and your book including a cover image, author bio, summary of the book, and more.
