Yes, you can have a heat pump and gas heater plumbed into the same system. The setups I've seen containing both usually have a two-bypass system, so you can select to run either one independently, together, or bypass both.

Hey👋, what yall suggest I use to heat up spa. Im.trying to just plumb in a heater so i have have me a little jacuzzi :) . It's a spill over in ground pool attached to the spa.

I have seen a lot of gas heaters failing in my area that are only 3 years old or so. Would not surprise me if the builders are using cheaper copper style on salt pools. It is Florida and everything is about cheap especially the labor even when it comes to supposedly up scaled new homes.
