What diameter of pulley do I use for 3/16”, 7x19 galvanized steel cable to accommodate and 90° bend? I’m building a storage lift in my garage. I would like a flex cycle life of 4000 times. Cable load will be no greater than 250lbs.

Hey great question! Maybe someone in the comments can offer a more specific suggestion, but we now offer 6x26 IWRC Galvanized Wire Rope with WLL of up to 3.7 tons. It's a great general purpose wire rope that can withstand a lot of force and abrasion.

Great video. How do I determine what size cable to use based on what I’m hoisting? Going to be hanging ~150-200 pounds from the ceiling of my garage using a ceiling hoist. Lifting a pallet that will remain overhead, so it needs to be safe. What size and type will work best?

My church has a paved parking lot and we need to run a power line 150' to the marquis sign from another pole that has a timer on the parking lot lights that are a 110 volt we and can not do under ground, my question is what cable can we stretch that far to put an electrical wire over to the sign?

You should be able to use 1/8"-1/4" cable depending on personal preference and weight of the electrical wire. Thanks so much for reaching out, let us know if you have any more questions!

Looking for a light duty cable to hang in a tree. Local national named hardware store has a 7x7, 1/16”, 100’ cable with a description “Heavy duty Electrogalvanized steel” cable for $19.00 & a regular galvanized cable that is the same length and price without the Electogalvanizing. I checked out the descriptions of Electogalvanized on the internet and it sounds like it goes through an additional process and should be more expensive. What is Electogalvanizing and do think the company advertising their cable as being Electogalvanized is just using that term loosely or is the consumer actually getting a good deal buying a cable that has Electogalvanizing process for the same price as a cable with out that process?

electro-galvanizing is a corrosion resistant coating that is put on the steel typically before spinning it into the cable. It really depends on the company doing the coating process whether or not they are going to get a good deal. Typically you want the extra coating on plain steel. Stainless will typically come uncoated when purchased.

Hi. For some reason cant find any info for the strent of 7/19 compared with 1/19 stainless wire. I have spliced a lot of 7/19 on a merchant ships. Think to splice the rigg on my 7 tones sailboat from 7/19 as I like to do it by myself. Any calculations for replacing 1/19 with 7/19? Thanks!
@E-rigging
@E-rigging 2 жыл бұрын
the 1x19 is going to be slightly stronger but near impossible to splice. The fewer wire strands at larger diameters that make up the 1x19 makes for a much stiffer cable in comparison to the 7x19 made up of much thinner, more flexible wire strands.
