I'm curious as to why you refer to your book as a "BESTSELLER." The only one I can find is a poorly reviewed book on Amazon that has only sold 145 copies and has accusations of plagiarism. There is also a warning from Amazon of poor writing that needs to be corrected. Not a great resume.

As a trained editor and Linguistics major, if an editor says he/she will edit your book professionally in five hours, that person is lying and bad at their job. Editing takes time and research. It goes beyond looking for that missing or unnecessary apostrophe. I would give an editor at least, and I mean the very least, a week. However, if I want to ensure quality, I will ask the editor how long they think it would take them to do the job. Typically, a good editor would say they cannot say without having seen the product and will only estimate thereafter. The reason you still found errors is probably because you gave them a few days or hours.

All writers are crediting their editors hugely...And I can see how much editing I do to my own text afterwards, just to make it better, so if somebody can improve from that then that good editor is worth their own weight in gold.

Take it from someone who's spent her life leaving one idea for a bit and going to a new one... learn whatever it takes to commit to and focus on one project until it's completed, or you will sadly never be able to turn it into a job/career. You can change your habits! Start as soon as you can! But do keep your new ideas in a safe vault to pick from when you're ready for the next project. Good luck!

@hollybigelow5337 2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! Just a tiny piece of advice. I'm not sure the age your book is geared towards, in general unless it's for young kids a good marketable length for the fantasy genre is around 30,000 - 50,000 words. Of course, there are two ways to get to that length. One would be to edit down the existing book. Another option is to divide the book into multiple books and choose to write a series rather than one single book. Good luck!

Ridiculous comment. You can also create your own cover or ask someone you know to create one without hiring someone to do it for a lot of money. She does not say that having a good cover is not important or necessary. She did not say that good cover design is optional. That is you twisting and changing her words and meaning. She said that it is an optional expense to hire someone to design a cover for you and she is right about that. Many websites that allow you e-publish on their sites, offer ideas and styles for covers and/or give you tools to design your own cover. They also give you the option to create a cover using your own software and then to upload your cover design as a jpeg file for example. It is not okay to be changing what someone has actually said.

Take a great classic book, no longer copyrighted, and completely rewrite it in your style, making changes to the personality of the characters, location, modify the conflict, etc. Make it a better book, if you can. Do this very quickly without editing. Then do an edit and redo as much as you can again. If you do this effectively there probably will be little of the old book left. This helps you learn what a great book really is. Plus, you end up with a book.

One peculiar question about the book cover designs, is it just me or does it look like they just take pictures from google and photoshop them slightly? Any idea where to find book cover artists who actually paint the covers (as it's a very complicated process of doing a cover), also I'm writing a fantasy story, think about Harry Potter Philosophers Stones book cover, with all the characters faces shown. I have 6 major characters in my story and I would be interested in showcasing them all in the cover art, so far I don't think any of these paid services could provide that for me. Do any of these do actual hand-drawings? As I have specific looks, hair color, clothing color, gimmicks on characters etc that needs to be spot on.

The thumbnail says that “Sorted” is a best selling book. Could you scan and then post the page out of The New York Times where is hit the top 50 in the nonfiction category? Because I think you are lying that this is a best selling book. You have to hit the top 50 of the NYT list to legitimately claim you are a best selling author. Most of the reviews on Amazon complain about typos in your book. So I doubt this was a best seller.

Quick tip : if you wright your book on Wattpad , make sure you pre wright it on a different formate such as , note , google drive , pages etc..... , the reason for this is because Wattpad isn’t 100% reliable, they can sometimes delete your book which is very disappointing, so please ig your gonna share your book on Wattpad, make sure you have a copy of it somewhere else just Incase .

Honestly its possible but not likly as far as grammarly So you need some who works in a I.T heavy position who wants to be a writer but is willing to completely steal other works who then must go through 1000s agian THOUSANDS of papers by student on every imaginable subject for readable concept or chapter? Upwork is even simpler you go to court and say that editor stole the book i hired him to edit then present the book in question you open and shut

The child and the mother somehow come to know about it and assure the father not to worry , a great relief for the father.

Hi Gillian, lots of information and really good start going in to selfpublishing rute. As graphic designer and illustrator I can say that good designer will guide you true making decision regarding your cover or other design needs. So you don’t need many designs to decide what you like. My suggestion is to ask a few designers with good portfolio, do they have time talk to you, to figure out the design and how much will that cost. For example I would charge for something like that around 200$ but we would work on your cover together and come up with something beautiful that you really like. Otherwise, great video and thank you for making it. It’s really helpful.

Grammarly is not by an means free! Did I really hear you say the words, 'starts to get boring, reading your own work?' If you get bored, why would you sell it to others? I have just finished my first book, approx. 145000 words, and I am in love with it! There is no way I would let anyone else edit it! Every thing, writing, layout, formatting, F/B covers is done by me. The thing is, you learn from working with these things. And it's all free to me, and there are so many clever people who give free advice, instructions and tips online, so there is no need to pay those hundreds of $ you talk about! My advice is; 1. do much research online. I kind of think you need to want , and need, to write which is where it all begins.
