What if your product doesn't really solve a problem? What if it's more of an artistic or entertainment type of product, like poetry, music or a piece of art? It wouldn't make sense to tell people that it will solve their "problem", because the enjoying of the product for what it actually is in itself is the whole point of the sale. Curious to hear the business philosophy around this
@sunniermoonАй бұрын
All those things can solve the problem by evoking the right emotions. Here is an example for you: romance novels and women (of certain age groups). Those things sell and sell and sell again because they make those customers feel all warm and fuzzy and make them dream and escape from their (boring) lives. Romance novel writers and big edition houses spend tons of time learning what characteristics the male hero must have for the novel to be a slam dunk! And they do a good job at it too considering that those characteristics have changed through the decades and they keep very neatly updating the male characters so that they are always “dreamy”. If we think about 50 Shades of Grey (not romance) but a good enough example that book as poorly written as it was served as escapism to a ton of sex-starved and kink-starved people who couldn’t do something concrete about their needs. That is a big reason for its huge success. Anyway, I guess what I am saying is that with the sort of product you mention you are in the business of solving problems related to emotions (emotions people want to feel, are starved for, can get addicted to).

Came here to say this. But hey, then the guru's video wouldn't have a clickbait title and a wild hook to get you to watch. However, comparing the same cream sizes of 250ml in Europe, Nivea is 3.7 EUR while Le Mer is 900-1435 EUR which is EVEN MORE worrying if they're the same base because it makes Le Mer nearly 240-388x more expensive and not 23x.

Well, the claim that La Mer's iconic Crème de la Mer and NIVEA Creme have the "same ingredients" is a bit of a stretch. Of course La Mer is mostly branding, but saying it's basically NIVEA it not true either. While the two do share some similarities in their base formulation, there are key differences in the ingredients and their purported benefits. Here’s a breakdown: Similarities Base Ingredients: Both contain mineral oil, glycerin, paraffin, and lanolin alcohol, which are standard emollients and occlusives that hydrate and create a barrier to lock in moisture. This creates a similar rich, moisturizing texture. Texture and Application: Both creams are thick, luxurious, and provide intense hydration. Key Differences Active Ingredients: La Mer: The key selling point is its "Miracle Broth," which includes fermented sea kelp, minerals, and plant extracts. This proprietary ingredient is claimed to have skin-rejuvenating and anti-aging properties. NIVEA: Lacks these complex, biologically active ingredients. It's primarily a basic moisturizer. Price Justification: La Mer invests in advanced fermentation processes and includes high-end ingredients like algae extracts and antioxidants. Whether these justify the cost depends on individual preferences and skin type. NIVEA is a simple, effective, and affordable moisturizer with no premium active ingredients. Fragrance: Both creams are fragranced, but the scents are different. La Mer has a subtle, luxury fragrance, while NIVEA has its iconic, slightly stronger scent. Packaging and Marketing: La Mer’s luxury branding and high-end packaging contribute to its premium price. NIVEA targets mass-market affordability. Verdict While NIVEA Creme provides excellent hydration at a fraction of the cost, La Mer differentiates itself with its proprietary Miracle Broth and additional active ingredients. For basic moisturizing needs, NIVEA can be a cost-effective alternative, but if you’re looking for potential anti-aging benefits and don’t mind paying a premium, La Mer might still hold value. Whether the extra benefits of La Mer justify its price is subjective and depends on personal priorities and budget.
