Hi I just wanted to let you know I truly appreciate your videos they've been extremely helpful in developing my business. If I could ask you the question regarding pricing with restaurants. I have a restaurant that would like me to grow cilantro for them. And was just wondering if you might share with me what you charge for a 10x20 tray of cilantro. It takes quite a bit longer I didn't know if you charged more because of that or not.

How long can you regrow cut greens? Do they eventually just stop growing when the seed runs out of energy, or is there X amount of times you can cut and regrow? Also do the greens lose nutrients the more they're cut and regrown? For example, will the first grow be more nutrient dense than second, third, etc? Thank you!

Depends on your state, but usually no license needed for most states. After talking with our local state offices, you don't need much of anything if you are doing less than $25k a year in sales. After that you just need periodic inspections. Again, every location has independent laws and restrictions that you would need to research and follow.

When you tell your home delivery customers you have crops in stock how often does one or two of them sell out a crop? I'm just wondering if you often have to tell people you are out of stock even after you've sent the email that you have some...
@PrincetonMicrogreens
@PrincetonMicrogreens 3 жыл бұрын
It happens occasionally but not too often. I know how many containers my customers usually order on a weekly basis and always grow a tad bit extra. I also keep a very close relationship with several dozen of my customers to the point where they even text their orders in to the company account. I can usually respond within seconds and keep tabs on inventory live. Any extra greens I have left over I either eat myself, or I have a neighbor that likes to buy a good amount of my leftovers for 1/2 off. If I have a lot left over, then I donate them to the local culinary school down the street.

Your videos are inspirational and very informative and helpful! Thank you for taking time and effort running this channel. My wife and I are planning to start growing micro greens for profit. We have been doing this for personal consumption, but now want to expand and try to actually make money on growing sprouts. My question is this - do we need license for growing and selling what is considered food? We live in Florida. A while ago we found a farm locally that sells very good raw milk and other natural products. They simply placed a label on some products “Not For Human Consumption” and walked around certain “obstacles”. Anyways, do you have any experience and advise on how to find answer to my question about need for a license?
@hilarymoshman102
@hilarymoshman102 2 жыл бұрын
You need to ask your state Department of Ag. As for the raw milk, this is the typical workaround specially for raw milk and nothing else.

I will not be doing farmer's markets even though it would only be 1-2 days per week at most. One day at farmer's market can turn into a 12 hour day very quickly, and you have to be able to extend your cold chain which is not easy or cheap to do, and you never know how much you will sell. Most farmer's markets have a waiting list for space reasons, but also because they limit how many people are selling the same products. When you do get into a farmers market, there will often still be 1-2 other stands (often more established) selling the exact same product at a very similar price point.

Making high quality labels sounds legit in theory but there are those who care more about presentation than actual quality of goods. A thing one should watch out for in these industries. Just as many people say they're organic yet aren't or even worse people who take commercial produce relabel it and say they grew it when all they did was put it in new jars or removed a label. A farmers market issues. Best way to know what your buying or eating is to visit a growers shop and process or grow it yourself. Many will use gmo pesticides and fungicides to make sure they don't lose any harvests cause they don't want to take the risk but they won't tell you that and will sell poisonous produce so they can pay thier bills.

Thank you soooo much for all your videos!!! This one was the one that actually persuaded me that the business could work where I live. I just googled and emailed 3 farmers markets to see how much they d charge for a stall per day (they all are opened once a week for a minimum of 4 hrs, luckily for me different days 🥳) and was surprised to find out that there were no people selling microgreens - so that looks to me like doing a step into the right direction!! 😊 all the info provided in the video gave me sooo many ideas and I can't wait to start! Ordered a starter kit for broccoli microgreens to see if I can actually grow it, as well as the book on growing microgreens that should be delivered tomorrow 😀 can't wait!!! Thank you so much for giving me faith! PS. One little question: when you are selling in the market how many boxes and how big of a variety did you have when you were starting? 🙏
