We’re doing our first pop up/bazaar next month! This video is so helpful. It’s at a glass/cannabis/art bazaar so we will be the only ones with records and we are a mobile record store working out of a converted school bus. I’ll probably bring about 1000 records. I’m having so much fun preparing but yes it is hard and tedious! Thank you so much for your videos, you have guided me through a lot of my process since I started the dream of having a record store.

Wow, this brings back memories, did that a lot during my 22 years in the record store. We were a bit green at the beginning, we sold a Iron Maiden 12'' single for such a 'great' price that all the other merchants were shopping and sold them at their own stall for 3 times the money. 🤣

Great video! I was a dealer at Austin record convention in’09 yes it’s a lot of work! Where did you get the shirt?
@NTXVinyl10 ай бұрын
right on! Have never done the Austin show, mainly because it's 3 full days. Ouch. Shirt is custom made for our Now Spinning Facebook Group. We are producing a series of them that resemble famous LP labels.

That is good marketing. I contacted Punk Rock Bowling slightly after covid but they never got back to me. Does the sun warp vinyl records if you're outside, not careful
@NTXVinyl10 ай бұрын
It could. But we are careful with it. Constantly moving crates around to avoid the heat. As long as records aren’t exposed to it for long periods they’ll be totally fine.

There's certainly a lot of work involved with an event like this but I'm sure it's worth the time and effort. The sales are nice but equally important is the connections made with buyers, other sellers, and even local distributors. Establishing a strong local network of record enthusiasts, whether buyers or fellow sellers, is necessary not only for future sales but also for obtaining useful business information that will assure a steady growth of your customer base.

How well does the average vendor do at a festival like this as opposed to a scheduled record that that occurs each year? How is that festival promoted other than social media?
@NTXVinyl10 ай бұрын
@@rixvspinner I can't really speak to the success of other vendors, only that the foot traffic is strong from open to close. 40,000 people is massive. They promote it for months leading up to the event, lots of social media advertising, radio, billboards on the highway nearby. It's the polar opposite of our local record shows - which are pretty small, maybe a thousand people total, and tons of competition for eyeballs with every other seller.

do you custom-make your own record dividers? And if so can you share the process?
