Hi Zoe hong, I love your educational videos, I am currently a student of a fashion school in Nigeria and I am graduating by December and I plan on starting my brand immediately after graduation and I am utterly confused about sizes.. size 6,8,10, etc but what sometimes these sizes don't actually fit into the human body in situations where someone has a size 8 bust and has a size 10 his circumference? how exactly can this be tackled?
@mioangel12274 жыл бұрын
@@omoteredo4824 You have to deal with small, medium and large sizes that give you the flexibility to add more room in each size. Sizing by number is more specific.

Please do a video on handling an online store. Ways to market & stuff.. and brick & motor. Maybe if you can recommend some research for me to do. That would be great. Cause I do a mix of wholesale (not really wholesale cuz the orders are tiny) & direct sales as well but online. Finding tough to get a footing in the market in direct sales.
@MrArmondRey4 жыл бұрын
Hey Zoe, this was a great intro to sales, thank you so much for the effort you put into these videos for people like me who can't afford another degree, but willing to scoop up every bit of info they can online, your videos do not go in vain. One big question that is lingering over my head in relation to sales is a more thorough examination of Fashion marketing, what are the techniques people use to bring their no-name brand to be admired by the thousands, and then millions. I wonder every day exactly how these brands start-up and gain traction within a few seasons, is it just online content/promotion, or is there a specific strategy to be employed.
@zoehongteaches4 жыл бұрын
It's a combination of social media, ads, and pr, and you need to hire a professional for that.

I started my brand 10 years ago this May, lots of trial n error. I spent the last year creating a beautiful catalog for the first time now, at first I was making one design at a time with hopes that design would take off but overall my site wasn't looking complete and I would only have consignment boutiques to go to sell my 1 piece's. I'm figuring out better sales and marketing. I might go the UBM trade show route this August (since I've been excepted by them before but wasn't prepared) if direct to consumer doesn't work. I need you on my team Zoe! 💖💛💚.

Zoe some of this was a refresher and some of it was new for me but I lovvvveeeed all of it! You're so real. I'm hoping to sell direct to consumer custom fit evening wear. I'm considering bridal as well. I currently have a graphic and web design business that I run online. My degree is in graphic design and media arts but I took a few fashion design courses when I was in college. Do you happen to know anything about breaking into the bridal industry? I want to make sure it would be a good addition to doing evening wear. It seems that a lot of evening wear designers have bridal lines too.
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
>>Do you happen to know anything about breaking into the bridal industry? No, not specifically. Although, it seems to me that wedding dresses is a category where women are willing to spend a little more money to get it fitting better, customized, etc.

How do you find people to so sew your clothes or do you find large manufacturers that use machines? And depending on which way you produce your clothes would that take away from the title of being luxury since it’s not hand made? Sorry if the question is a little confusing
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
Luxury does not equal handmade. Only haute couture and bespoke are handmade and there's a lot more to couture and bespoke that just being made by hand. Prada, Gucci, etc, they make their stuff on machines.

Thanks, Zoe for taking your time to make this video, very detail information. So you do recommend for a start-up business to first do Wholesales instead of DTC first, correct?
@zoehongteaches6 жыл бұрын
I absolutely do not recommend one or the other. I did the 2 videos as a jumping point to do your own research, to reflect on the specific needs of your own brand and company, and make the decision yourself.

Thank you thank you thank you 🙌🏼 love you Zoe Trade shows!!! Yay! Zoe, pls tell me one thing: if my manufacturer's minimum is 100, and I go to a trade show and a buyer wants 30 pieces? What do I do? Say 'no' or say 'yes' and wait for another buyer and hope they will order 70 more?
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
Get more buyers to order that style. Or find another factory with smaller minimums. If the selling season ends you still haven't done either, you'll need to contact the buyer and tell them you can't complete their order, ask them if they want more pieces, or if they'd like to order another style that you can produce.

Well is it viable or a better idea to do both retail and wholesale? While u wait on wholesale money have retail circumvent ?
@zoehongteaches2 жыл бұрын
If you want to do wholesale and also sell direct via your own website, you still have to function as a wholesale business. If you sell garments for far cheaper and far faster/sooner than you deliver to wholesale avenues, boutiques/dept stores will stop working with you.
