What frequency ( channel 70 ) does the DSC distress call get sent on ? Who monitors this channel ? Is there a LEO ( low earth orbit ) emergency frequency ? Is there a radio that will transmit a text message via satellite, like the emergency pagers that hikers carry with them in case of needing rescue ?

First, you need to register for a MMSI number. Then you, your dealer or distributor needs to input it in the radio. You can check the MMSI number in menu screen. Look for MMSI/GPS.
