Hey Chris, You are right that Workflow Rules are being retired, but Outbound Messages and Email Alerts are still being used. It's confusing because these two features are under the Workflow Actions menu. In this video, we trigger that Outbound Message with a Flow. The Flow replaces the logic you'd build into a Workflow Rule. Is that helpful? Thanks for the comment!

It was a very nice job of teaching, and add value to the Salesforce Community. Thank you! I have a burning question that I have not found a non-Hackey solution to for a long time. In pardot, we sometimes become aware of the need to trigger some type of automation in salesforce, or create some type of record that isn’t part of, the integration between Salesforce and pardot are there any non-hackey solutions? I consider it a hack to create a task and then trigger flow on the Salesforce side based on the task name to do some thing. But it’s about the only solution I’ve come up with so far.

Hey Terry, Thanks for the comment. Your solution isn't a bad one. My preferred solution isn't much better. I prefer to use a picklist field on a contact or lead to trigger a flow. Pardot will update that picklist field to "Queued" and that update will start a record-triggered flow or a scheduled flow. In the flow, I'll update the picklist field to "Complete" if it succeeded. Scheduled Flows are a good option for this if the record you want to create isn't time sensitive or if the automation needs a license that the b2bma integration user doesn't have. Another option is to update the crm campaign member status for the prospect from Pardot and use that to trigger the flow. I only like using the task option if that task has a reporting function. If no one cares, it's clutter and the campaign or field option is cleaner.

@@Rotive How to do a series of emails would be great. Our account exec keeps pitching us High Velocity Sales, but I want to know how much automated prospecting you can do with basic Sales Cloud. We've considered using Engagement Studio in Pardot, but obviously cold prospects have not opted in to our marketing and we don't want to jeopardize our marketing email list.
