Following on from one of my live feeds, I was asked if i could do a basic video on how to set up bobbins for fishing. Now all i would start to say is it's all about personnel preference really but here is my simple opinion on the subject.
The bobbins i use are usually the MCF flippers or the Korda stow heads according to the distance I'm fishing.
The bobbin in the video was bought off Ebay years ago and i have no idea which company made them.
The video illustrates slack lines, long range and semi slack lines.
The camera i use mostly is the Gopro hero4.
My bobbins are from

Thanks just bought my first begginer carp set. What's a Ying-Yang design that can either be used free running or pinched to the line for unrivalled sensitivity. What do they mean by you can have the bobbing free running...it describes that in the avid lock down bobbin kit

Need some help as I’m new, do you just pick up the rod when there’s a fish on or detach the bobbin first?
@Carlfishing
@Carlfishing 2 жыл бұрын
If there is an advanced indication, simply strike the rod.

Hiya. Another great video.. My question, that I struggle to find a answer is = I've korda black and whites in M size. I've got the added 10g & 15g weights, so when to use those weights? Obviously there's information out there to say to use them for distance fishing, but are they worth using in windy conditions to help the bobbins from swinging and giving false bleeps?? Yes, I can turn my sensitivity down, but if I'm snag fishing I'd rather not. Any tips? Are these weights purely for distance fishing? Thanks
@Carlfishing

You’ve actually answered your own question. I always use weighted bobbins at range but like you say weight helps in windy times. Just do what you feel comfortable with. Cheers for watching

So I’ve started fishing again after a 20 yr lay off! I use to use monkey climbers what’s the advantage of bobbins over the old school monkey climbers, I’m still catching fish! On the time lapse I use a DJI osmo which collates all the images for you even on a motion lapse brilliant bit of kit!

Cheers for that handy info Carl. I have a quick question ... I’m looking and running a nash bp - 6 on two sets of dwarf nash 10ft 2.5lb TC. I’m stuck between the Nash or the Shamano bait runner 4000 fb st

It’s all personal to yourself really, I’ve always used Shimano and Daiwa reels. Fashion has a big part in what people use I guess. I’m currently use all Shimano gear including Rods.

When the bobbin is fished mid way up, does it make the line taught to the lead/ cutting through the water possibly spooking fish? Just a thought as fish same distances you mentioned & my bobbin is always half way

No the line if on a flat area settles according to the type of line.

Dave Fisher now this i a very good question. I would fish semi slack. My opinion. You see the dropback or full run. I would also fish a running lead.
