The brakes were off-center on my bike for YEARS! Awesome tutorial. Thank you, helped so much!

Your video is the best for explaining the shift from left to right on V-Brakes. Most ppl are too ADD to explain it correctly. Tightening the screw on right side shifts the V-Brakes towards the right side, lifting the right brake pad AWAY from the rim. Loosening the screw on the right side shifts the entire V-brake towards the left, thus bringing the right brake pad closer to the rim.

Brilliant video! Who knew spacers would make such a difference. I've been struggling with a new pair of brakes and I was getting ready to take them back. But after watching your video, and swapping the spacers, they work just like they should. I'm a fairly experienced DIY bike mechanic, so it's nice to learn new stuff! Thank you.

I like this because he's showing you a real , used bike , not one of these expensive , perfect ones , where all the parts behave exactly.

And a "thank you", sir. I used to hate and dread doing anything on the bike because I didn't have a clue and would invariably make a complete pig's dinner out of any job. These You Tube guides are insanely valuable and very much appreciated.

Thank you! Just bought a new bike from a big box store, and the brakes were not set correctly, one side of the front brake was rubbing the wheel Asked the guy working there and he told me it was just because the brakes are new and tight. I knew that didn't sound right. Thanks to your video and about 5 mins my brakes work perfectly now.

I pulled on the cable too much, and I can't get the brakes close enough, the brakes and cable looks nothing like in this video meaning, I can't readjust to what it should sort of look like here. mine are v brakes also. I wonder how much to fix if take to a mechanic?
@TheLurker11 жыл бұрын
it sounds like your brakes aren't centered right. There should be a phillips head screw at the bottom of the brake arm, stick out perpendicular from the frame. Tighten it on the side that is rubbing, and loosen it on the other side until they are even. Work in quarter turns, alternating sides and squeezing the brakes in between adjustments. (If both sides are rubbing, loosen the cable either at the brake or using the barrel adjuster on the brake levers on the handlebars.)

The correct order would be: 1. large washer with cavity 2. Washer with elevation towards excavation of number 1 3. V-Brake brake arm 4. Washer with elevation towards excavation number 5 5. small washer with cavity 6. M6 washer 7. Nut with allen head Second, there is the setting of the springs. With this brake, you would have to turn off the screw on the right side of ours. As a result, the spring does not have so much tension and the shot would not go so jerkily.
