I noticed on your head unit your subwoofer control is at 0. On my head unit that would turn the subwoofer output off completely. Should I set it to max, halfway? Thank for the great content!

I think you should set it to Max cuz that's the same as a bass knob and you always turn your bass knob to max because if you sit everything up with it halfway and you ever turn your bass knob past halfway you going to send a distorted signal

Hello JP, I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with because I can’t find an answer. I have a 2006 gmc sierra with the factory Bose amplifier and sub. I had a Sony ax 3200 installed and door speakers. I do have a amplifier and subwoofer box I installed. My question is I want to find the max distortion volume on the Sony head unit with the smd dd1. Seeing it has a factory Bose amplifier can I just unhook a door speaker and test from there because the speakers are being powered by that Bose amplifier. I know it says unhook speakers but in this case I had it installed because it had the factory Bose and steering wheel controls etc. Do you think I could get my max distortion reading the way I explained or do you suggest something else. I hope you could help me out because I can’t find an answer. Thank you very much

You don't have any of the filters on the deck on. For the sub you would t have a hpf anyways you'd be using lpf

its better to tune at a 0db so that you can +5db in eq or sub level inside the head-unit for the most control

I don't agree with how you do your head unit if you set your EQ flat and get your undistorted signal going to the amp if you decide to use your EQ you going to make it clip because it won't be sending that clean flat signal anymore so I think it's best to set your EQ to what you would listen to it at and get a clean signal going to your amp

That’s something I’ve never understood. I would think that anything done to the signal after setting the gain would technically add noise and increase the chance for clipping. I set my gains with the DD1 with everything flat and then adjust my eq how I like it and I can hear the distortion when I crank up the volume.

I also set up my EQ and bass on my head unit first than use my DD-1.

I set most of my settings to where I'll have them. Loudness level 1, usually powerful on the eq or some variation close using custom.

So turn you're radio all the way up and than set you're amp gain until you see distortion

Hey I have a 2019 Toyota Camry with a stock head unit and my volume goes up to 62 as well I also bought the dd1 and it does the same thing no distortion whatsoever on either track 1 kilohertz or 40 Hertz WTF I know that can't be right

I personally don't want to have to turn the knob so many times to get to 62. I see it to 40 and set gains from there. Just don't go past 40 on the dial.

Yeah everybody gives praise for these videos but just another KZbinr that doesn't communicate with his viewers. None of any of setting up your system with a dd1 makes sense to me. That's pretty much telling you to set your system on flat, everything off and then you're good to go with a clean signal. Well then your system will sound just that.. flat. Just like in this video, you cannot set your crossovers after you set your gain you will cause distortion.
