Just did the same process because my rcas clip at 39 and it’s clean at 38 door speakers clip at 27 clean at 26 set gain to -5db I never go pass 26 and it a cleaner sound Very good details man!!

@@jptheinstallguy that process I did was with my Oscilloscope now just as in today I’ve got my DD-1 And I repeated the same whole process my RCA’s do not clip or distort I can turn my radio all the way up at 40 clean then I did the process on the door speakers and at 1k is distorting at volume 28 then I did 40hz And it is distorting at volume 16 I thought that was very weird So glad I got my DD-1 Very accurate than the oscilloscope it went straight to the trash lol So now I’m good on the Bass Side so all I need is a four channel amp and better door speakers but for now I can turn it all the way up to 40 max volume and not have to worry about distortion on subwoofers I said it at -10 db

Would be good to mention the very first time the distortion light blinks DOES NOT indicate true distortion. The DD1 is a "smart" device that auto-ranges when needed. Also, when the distortion light comes on it indicates 1% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)

Great video I'm glad I found it so to start off I'm brand new to anything more than a stock charging system and little daily driver setup biggest amp I have ever ran was a kicker CXA 1800.1 and I have always had everything installed by a shop anyway I recently decided to get into competitive audio and I have done a major overhaul on my entire car and system high output alternator, voltage control module, multiple runs of 0 gauge OFC running to a 29AH SCIB bank charging at 15.8 it took me a while to research everything and learn how to do it BUT my power supply and charging system are on point now and im at the actual install part of the equipment any way just got a DD-1 and CC-1 combo package to tune my new deafbonce AAK 6000.1 and it will be running to a 15" incriminator audio Tyrant rated for 5K RMS so the amp is rated for 1k more than the sub and being that I'm running almost 16v it will probably be pushing 7K to the sub and with that I don't want to push it to the max and as i said im brand new to this stuff so would you recommend using the 40HZ -0db test tone im going to be monitoring voltage, amperage and temperature throughout the car so I have a little extra security but I still want it to be the best possible signal for sound quality since it's getting extra power

I have a Kenwood dmx7709s, I always use the USB for Android auto, from the head unit running an RCA to the back, the dd1 didn't pick up the 40hz signal, but when I used the Bluetooth mode on the head unit it picks it up, I also noticed the bass sounds different from Bluetooth, it hits better, does that mean I tune through android auto?

I used to dd1 to set the gain and it distorted with gain barley up and it doesn't have that much bass compared to half gain

I got a quick question, whats the procedure to gettin the sound levels to read louder at a given volume level. Can I use a -5 DB test tone to get it a little be louder at, lets say 25 volume vs. a 0 db test tone? Or am I thinking of this all wrong? I find it at LOC with AMP gains set the volume level is lower than say with OEM radio pushing speakers normally. I hope I made sense. TIA

Hey I need your help. In the dd1 manual it say turn your bass knob half way the turn amp gain up until clip light. Is that true I have an rca in-line pac lc1. I tuned with the dd1 with knob half way. What’s you thoughts thanks for the videos

I think so if your using the epicenter as the rca source of signal you should be able to make sure it's clean using these same steps

Ok I have a problem I just tried to use the DD-1 for setting my gains and finding the Max volume for the head unit BUT!!! When I attempted this in my 19 Camry the stock head unit with a Max volume of 62 doesn't pick up the 40hz until almost 50 and doesn't show any type of distortion whatsoever but with everything Flat I go to the back and turn on the DD-1 and with the gain all the way down I get a clipped signal at around 35 volume but without knowing what the maximum volume of the head unit is I don't know where to start for setting my gains and since it's clipping at 50% on the head unit with NO gain I'm completely stumped on what to do or what the issue is can you please tell me if you have ever encountered this problem before and if so how did you fix it

My next question is, I watch both of ur dd1 videos "specifically the how to set gains on a amp" .you turn gain all the way down and lpf all the way up and the subsonic all the way down. AFTER setting the gain and being completely done. Do we still leave the lpf all the way up and the sub all the way down still ?

This setting how you're setting your head unit to test for distortion doesn't make sense because if you're not going to listen to it flat with no bass or no trouble or if you have an EQ you're not going to listen to it flat you going to adjust it with base and trouble where you want it I think that's how you should set it because if you go and boost the base or whatever you going to get of this stored it signal
