This video takses a closer look at how to set the battery parameters in SRNE SR series AIO inverter controllers that have also been rebranded by Eco Worthy, Renogy, Midnite MN3024DIY, MN5048DIY, and the Renogy 4850. I am currently not connected to a mains power, and I am using the 3000 watt 24 volt edition for demonstration within this video. There is a chart in the video for 48 volt battery settings, navigating the menu is identical in these inverters.
In setting number 1 you may be better off using th SBU option if you are not using mains power. If anyone has additional suggetions, I would love to hear them in a constructive manner. So far I have had good luck with these settings.

Hey there again, here's my current situation, I'm getting a max charge of 26.8v from the three 250w panels in series. When I watch a movie and run the ceiling fan and small frig, the voltage reaches 25.0v or maybe a bit lower at bed time, then I run a regular fan over night my inverter will ring the alarm in the wee hours of the morning due to low voltage, thoughts on that? so with that said im going to try the 2s2p on my four 250w panels to see if i get a better responce. My question is now and i may have asked you this already but i want to run a generator sometimes to top off my batteries before i go to bed. So even if the inverter has not reached the #4 setpoint and i start the generator manually will it just automatically switch to that power source to top off the batteries? Or do i need to change #1 or #6 settings on the inverter for that to happen? I have #1 set on sbu and #6 set on oso.

Thanks for the video, i'm looking to buy one of these on facebook marketplace for a very good price. Does the switch on the bottom turn off the entire unit or just the power inverter? I would like to be able to turn off just the inverter to reduce quiescent power draw when i'm not using any appliances. Thanks

Question, so when the batteries drops in voltage to the set point you have set. your saying it automatically switches to main or generator mode to recharge the batteries if you had one or the other to use, So in other words if I plug in my generator to the ac input on the inverter it will automatically switch the pv off and generator us on?
@Tool_Shed_Talk
@Tool_Shed_Talk 27 күн бұрын
The short answer is yes, but it wont disconnect the panels. This unit is capable of charging your batteries using both panels and the AC to DC charger that is built into the charger. There is actually another setting that you can use to set the rate of charge while it is doing this. In order to turn the generator on, it relies on the dry contact, andthe setting that accompany that. The dry contacts are a low voltage relay that is capable of sending a signal to another relay that works with an Automatic Transfer Switch that can power the generator on and off. That is the condensed explaination. Soon, I will have a video out that describes how to set up the AIO controller using mains, and then further into the fiture I will have another video using a generator. Thanks for checking in!!!!

@@Tool_Shed_Talk so what is the indicator that let's you know that the voltage is to low and its OK to fire up the generator. And Is this unit totally capable of running a window unit ac, TV and refrigerator? I'min the process of setting up this same unit with 1000watts of solar but I'll need to run a window ac unit, refrigerator, TV and normal stuff like that in my off grid cabin. Thats why I was wondering if you can run a generator through the inverter to run stuff in an off grid setup.
@Tool_Shed_Talk
@Tool_Shed_Talk 26 күн бұрын
@@fjayw yes, I run a 10,000 BTU window mount aircon, and even my air compressor or skill saw at the same time with no problems. If you are starting the generator yourself, there are setting that allow you to run but the generator and the panels at the same time. There is a maximum AC bypass current load of 40 amps. So in the settings you can set the voltage parameter of the battery so that when it drops to a certain voltage, it bypasses the inverter and uses the mains power in fire an uninterrupted power supply (UPS).

Hey sorry to bug you again, so I'm setting up off grid like you were during this video using the same inverter, 3000w eco worthy 24v. My question is, there is a grounding screw on the bottom of the inverter, My breaker panel is ground with a grounding rod 8ft in the ground. The AC out only has the Line and the Nuetral connections. What is the grounding screw for and do in need it for my setup? If I need to use it do I run a ground wire from the ground screw to the grounding rail in my panel box or do I ground it to something else? I am reading the book but I'm stumped on the ground screw. Thanks@@Tool_Shed_Talk

@@fjayw so, on this controller the AC is grounded directly to the chassis of the controller/inverter. It is ok to run a wire from this ground to your ground busbar that is connected to your earth ground. I actually recommend that, and that way all grounds will have the same reference. Some folks will argue that AC and DC should have separate grounds. Some folks run it like myself with one common ground that is connected to an earth ground. I hope that makes sense.

Eco worthy should give a setting number for us if we are using their battery. They should know your battery well indeed. I saw they have some number for some lithium setting in the manual but not sure if any of that is for the 12v 280ah battery i got from them. Currently, i just bring up a 2s2p with that battery. Waiting for some cable to come to complete that

@@HuyTran-zy9sv yeah, it's difficult as this controller is a rebranded item, and even then there are so many different batteries with individual BMS systems, sizes, etc., that it would be difficult to accommodate them all. Even the different size Eco Worthy batteries have different parameters. That's why I think learning how to set your battery parameters is important.

I change parameters similar to you and also compared with numbers for the battery from them which is similar. The app always showing around 60% SOC all the time. @@fjayw ok, so I just figured out your problem, this can be remedied to accommodate all four panels. This controller has a MPPT range of 60v to about 90v, with a Max open voltage of about 100v. When you connect your panels in series, the voltage adds up and exceeds 100v causing the error. The good news is that the safety mechanism is working, and your controller isn't damaged. So 750w of panels is all I can run on this inverter in series?
@Tool_Shed_Talk
@Tool_Shed_Talk 18 күн бұрын
@@fjayw in series yes, but you can do a 2s2p configuration with your panels, and be within voltage and amperage parameters. And my apologies, but this controller has an MPPT range that starts at 30v not 60v. So with the 2 series 2 parallel configuration you could easily have all 4 of your panels operating. That is the configuration I use, and my panels have about the same voltage parameters.

@Tool_Shed_Talk
@Tool_Shed_Talk 28 күн бұрын
@@jeffcrutchett7993 ah yes, so answering your other reply; it sounds like you did not have enough voltage from your panels to meet minimum voltage requirements to operate your controller. For your other question, you will want to keep your panels the same. That includes different strings of panels going to your combiner box. For example, if you have six panels connected in series. Going to one fuse in your combiner box, you would want another string with the same amount of panels in the same configuration going to your combiner box. Your combiner box at that point would connect them in parallel and your amperage would increase, and not your voltage. This is something to use caution with so that you don't exceed either your voltage requirements for your controller, or your amperage requirements for your controller and or wiring.
