Thanks for doing the comparison - I was about to order the Renogy monitor. Watching this, May have changed my mind; I’m all about keeping it simple.

Both say 92% I like the demo thanks it is all good info, I bought a hall sensor I realized that's the way my AMP meter works very cool. Still learning at 66 and it's never boring :)

Thank you for sharing the video. It was helpful because I wanted to know the actual degree of measurement error with shunt resistors and Hall sensors. Junktek shunt resistor module failed after a few months, so I will try the same Hall sensor type.

Picked up a hall sensor monitor for my lithium battery/trolling motor setup on my pack canoe. It would appear that it will do the job. Thanks much!

Great comparison. How does the standby draw compare between them?

The renogy recalibrates when the battery is 100% so it remains accurate over the long term as long as it is fully charged regularly. Over a long period of cloudy days it does go out of sync..the real test would be to leave them both connected at 100% and come back a week later.

I have a different brand of Hall sensor monitor, but I like it. I can hook it up to the wiring to the fuse box located inside my camper without having to drill holes to run the wiring from the battery to the inside of the coach. Is it as accurate? Probably not, but close enough.

The algorithms in both meters are mathematical identical so the one that is most accurate is the one that uses the actual current .If you used an accurate watt meter and compared the displayed wattage of both meters then the one closest to the actual wattage is the most accurate.

SUGGESTION FOR NEXT VIDEO: Put the ecoworthy hall sensor on the red wire of a solar panel and show us how goid or bad it works. So we could consider using these to monitor individual power production of each solar panel in an array. thx but stop moving camera hard to watch

I'm on the fence with this Renogy monitor. I installed mine about half a year ago and I initially really liked it. Unfortunately it started flaking out on me about a month ago. It would sporadically sound it's alarm and tell me I had 0% battery capacity in my bank when the bank was fully charged. It also wasn't recognizing when I had a charge going into the bank. I think I tracked it down to a faulty pin on the wire that connects the shunt to the monitor last night. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a replacement wire. To be honest though, I'm not sure I even want to spend money on a replacement if this one only lasted 6 months. It's a shame because I really do like the display. Much more than ones like the Victron which only show partial information. Maybe this Eco-worthy is what I'm looking for.

I'm having the same issue with mine. It doesn't seem to read the battery charging, just the drain. It will reset to 100% when the battery is fully charged.

Watched another vid where the guy was having the same problem. At first he thought it was that pin but then wasn't sure. I think Renogy has some work to do.

I use the Lnex, which is identical to the Renogy, just $10 cheaper. You can also get a Lnex with a color monitor for the same price as the Renogy.

No two meters will show the exact same reading. If the are w/in 5% that's as good as you can expect outside high dollar lab equipment.

one thing I noticed with my eco worthy battery monitor is that it doesn't show my inverter wattage consumption. my inverter consume 10 watt on standby. so my conclusion is this battery monitor will not show anything under 10 watts. But what i'm trying to find out is does the monitor take into account does none visual wattage.

That's a really good point and I can confirm that anything under 10 watts does not register on mine either. This is one of the shortcomings of this monitor for sure. Thanks for the observation!

You have to add the base load of 20 watts before the heater is added, then the Hall sensor is more accurate

Does the shunt have a fuse and shutoff and would that make it a better value?
@oh2bfr337
@oh2bfr337 Жыл бұрын
Hi James, great question! The shunt doesn't have a dedicated fuse or shutoff switch but it really doesn't require one as it is only connected to the negative side of the battery. There is a separate 20awg positive lead that comes off of the shunt for the LCD screen's power and I did wire in a 2 amp fuse for that just to be extra safe. It would definitely be a better value if it came stock with an inline fuse for the LCD power lead, however, I have yet to find a battery monitor that comes with this pre-wired (yet lol). I have also put in a master on/off switch and a 100amp fuse on the positive terminal of the battery for safety purposes. Thanks for the question! I hope this helps!! Happy Holidays!!

How do you hook up to 24 volt system mobility scooter
@smashushiswashumi6843
@smashushiswashumi6843 8 ай бұрын
you should have placed the hall sensor before the shunt with respect to battery terminal. that means connecting cable from terminal to shunt to allow hall sensor to be placed there. im sure you connected shunt directly to terninal and hall sensor after thats why rreading on ecoworhty is high compared to renogy since it is also recording the watts consumed on the shunt.

Is there an easy way to define the upper and lower voltage limits (= supposedly capacity) on the Renogy?
@oh2bfr337
@oh2bfr337 7 ай бұрын
Hi chitung2277, yes, there are options to set the 'Full' and 'Zero' voltages on the Renogy monitor. I have a 100ah 12 volt battery connected to mine and the Full voltage is set to 14.5v and the Zero voltage is set to 9.5v. This monitor also has a low capacity alarm. I've set mine to alert at 10ah on my 100ah battery. This is a great battery monitor IMO. I hope this helps !!

Hello, can you confirm that the coulombmeter function does what I think it does, namely: During the life of a battery 1-10 years (whatever it is) it charges and discharges, the coulombmeter function measures what current comes out and what current comes in (subtracts and adds - averages, etc.) then results (normally after several cycles, not instantly) the capacity in Ah of the battery. Let's say we have a 100Ah battery and I cycle it 20-80%, the coulomb meter should show me after some time a capacity of 60Ah (ideal). If we reduce the losses, I think somewhere around 55-59Ah. This is true ? Does it do what I think?
