Great video! I dont miss all the technical jargon involved with planning but I do miss the process of building it. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a project come to fruition. Good luck with it! Cant wait to see how it progresses for you.

Use a surveyor to lay out house , because the city will require a surveyor to certify , that what happens around here . It is also cost effective , Peter

Awesome stuff. I've actually never seen a builders setting out boundaries in nz, usually surveyors or slab guys, even plumbers doing the drainage but never the builders. How common is it for builders to do this?
@nzbuilder4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. I did my apprenticeship for an old school builder and we did everything from hand digging foundations to installing roofs. As far as I am aware Setout and Siting is part of Level 4 Carpentry qualifications so every qualified builder should technically know how to do It, at least in theory. But your right as more and more of the work gets subbed out builders star t to lose that skill

Awesome videos bro. Good to see some theory relevant to NZ on here, they're helping my apprenticeship a ton. You should sell content to BCITO 🤣
@nzbuilder2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Jay, I've talked to BCITO a few times about doing more specific stuff for them, but they are not interested at this stage, mention it to you local advisor to mention it to his boss :)

Hey Josh, would you mind if I am asking will the surveyor set out by their total station for a complicated house?
@nzbuilder Жыл бұрын
yes we often get them to set out for us, usually with their GPS
@kimjin6450 Жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm a surveyor based in NZ, and also enjoy Josh's channel. We usually set out using Total Station (cause it's most accurate say around 1mm) GPS can be used depending on the accuracy requirement (accuracy normally around 20-50 mm) Personally, I always use Total Station, because it's accurate and takes a similar time compare to using GPS. (So the cost is similar, but much more accurate)
