Tahoe, not an Equinox. Better seats and view of the road (I can see beyond most vehicles). I totally agree with the comfort vs. safety setup in this video. Muscle memory, best setting. Camaros are not made for super long trips. Yecch.

@@MJHarte Haha, I know what you mean. All my family is tall. My old man is 6'7", and when he bought a 996 911 brand new- years ago, he had to get them to modify it at the factory in Germany for him. They literally moved the driver's seat back a few inches (which is a bigger modification than most realise because the floor is reinforced in a particular spot for the seats), they removed the factory console and removed half the padding thickness in the driver's seat for him. All this raised the price by almost $30,000 and delayed the delivery of the car for months

@@IllusiveChristie I had a mate in high school who was 7'2" and used to get picked up in a 1980's Mitsubishi Colt... If you know what these cars look like and how small they are, you'd trip out... It was pretty funny watching him get in it though... 😂 One of his parents would have to sit in the back seat so he could take the front passenger seat... 😏

After racing motorcycles 1st then racing cars, I found that closer to the steering wheel is better when you're driving aggressively. The further back you are from the wheel, the harder it is to drive. On a motorcycle with your head further forward your bike follows where your head is pointing. I do the same with a car and shave seconds off each lap.
@poloska9471
@poloska9471 Жыл бұрын
This is indeed true, but up to a certain point of course, you don’t want to be too close because it has diminishing returns and increasing safety risk the closer you get. Also, the point about the car following where your head is is definitely spot on, that is indeed how it works when you are driving to go FAST. It also improves your situational awareness because it is easier to twist the body… so many people get lazy when driving, but if you want to go HARD you are going to need to be an athlete behind the wheel just as much as a great strategist.

either way its uncomfortable to drive when ur arms are constantly extended like that, this vid is trying to apply what the medical books say but thats not really how it works in practice. research also said the healthiest way to sit is by changing ur posture often, its not just one posture that is the ultimate posture.

When I adjust my seat, I plant my feet flat on the floor and when I have about a 60-90° bend in my legs (depends on the car). Then I'll adjust the seats back to be straight because I care about posture. Then I make all other adjustments. This sounds uncomfortable. But if I showed you in person most agree this is amazing.

Since racing involves a helmet and hans device they don't usually mention it, but you should have your head touching or as close to the headrest as possible when looking forward. This will reduce the likelyhood of whiplash.

If your car has 10 way adjustable seats you should also recline the seat to where it takes pressure off your sitting bones but not enough to ruin visibility and tilt the seat and adjust height to where your thighs are properly supported,and have good visibility and you have enough headroom, and adjust the lumbar support to where it matches the natural curvature of your back as close as possible.

For daily driving maybe but for performance driving you need to be sitting a LOT closer than you'd think and your seat needs to be nearly vertical. You want to be able to apply a good amount of force to turn the wheel about 3/4 the way around in each direction without removing your hands from the wheel and your hands need to be at the sides of the wheel. I mean I'm sure you are just unaware and have no race experience but you give the impression that this is supposed to be a racing position when it definitely isn't.

Eh.. ideally the placement for your legs should be at a point where all of the effort put into the pedal is done by your thighs and none by your ankles/calves but everything else was spot on! 120° elbows are stronger. They also ensure your arms don’t get thrown into the roof of the car in a crash by the airbag. It’s also more comfortable on long drives and a lot less tiring. Pity airbags are designed for a person sitting straight armed and leaning back slightly. Apparently there’s nothing more “Fun” than getting smashed by a still inflating airbag, rather than hitting it when it is inflated.

Driving manual trans vehicles kinda sucks. Just to put it in perspective. In a new toyota camry which is a very popular normal car. I cannot fit inside it without the seat all the way back lol. While i am a bit of a hypocrite for stating this, you use the old "10 and 2" hand possition on the steering wheel. While this is fine for the car its pictured in with your model, on cars with driver airbags, it puts the driver in a perfect possition to have their wrist snapped if they deploy. I am guessing this video is part of a series where the difference is understood, but since this video is being pushed on its own by the algorithim, it may be smart to put a disclaimer at the start.
