How to set the timing on Honda j-series 3.0/3.2/3.5/3.7

All the j-series Honda motors are the same when it comes to the timing. Thank you Honda! Extremely easy.

I have a 3.0 accord. I had the timing right. When to take belt off and the back cam spun clock wise. Set it back lined up all the way around and took plugs out and turn motor by hand it locks up.

How do I safely take off the hydraulic tensioner for reinstall as my real plan backed up a notch upon pulling the pin on it? First time doing this thanks for the other info.keep up the good work

Thanks for showing this. So I did this job on my honda, but when I was putting the timming belt, the rear camshaft rotated without the belt, I tried to rotated it back to the marks, but the engine is running rough. I have to take everything apart again but how can i put the rear camshaft in the right sequence of fire?

I have a 2006 Honda Accord 3.0l engine and the drive belt rubbed a hole through the front cover and when the drive belt broke it wrapped around the timing belt so I had to cut the timing belt just to get the belt a loose. So my question is how do I set the timing marks on the cam shafts when the belt is off. Do I just turn each camshaft counter clockwise until I reach the mark?

@@billkincer4256 with a new timing kit and tensioner oh and I had to put use heads from another wreck motor because I bent valves. So make sure that you have the timing marks lined up Perfectly because if you don’t you stand a chance of bending the valves

@@1456941 I started a water pump and timing belt job on my 02 3.0 Accord and my mother died and it's been hard to concentrate. After getting the water pump on and the new pulleys I put on the belt and got it on correctly and spun the crank one time which made the first bank and second Bank sprocket point down instead of up. I went in the house to take a break. Came back out after a couple beers and for some odd reason I had spaced out what I did earlier. So me not thinking clearly I took off the belt and turn the sprocket on the bank facing the firewall. Now remember both Banks sprockets were pointing down. Because the crank was only turned once. So then after turning this sprocket on the back Bank one revolution I didn't hear any crash all I heard was my ratchet go zip. Then I realized I messed up, possibly. So I put the belt back on crank the crank bolt one revolution which lined up all three marks. Would I be able to crank the engine over if I had damaged the valves?

@@billkincer4256 It will crank slowly If the valves are bent with no compression on that head side/s. You should have at least rotated the crank twice to make sure all the dials marks Lined up correctly before you put everything back together & try to crank it.

What happens if you you rotate it twice and the lines don't mark up on the cams? Does that bend your valves If you start the engine that way?

Put a timing belt kit on my 2003 Honda V6 Accord had all the marks lined up and it's still out of time any suggestions.

Probably 180 degrees off. Rotate the crankshaft one revolution

@@Redbeezy504 hey brother, I took my belt off when the crank was on the mark but both cams was 180 down. I should have spun the crank one more time and it all three were lined up but I didn't. Now I have the crank lined up the right valves are pointing down and I don't know what to do with the firewall side valves. Any suggestions
