Great video. It really shows how simple it can be to get yourself on a line. They don't all have to span canyons to be fun! You gotta start somewhere

Weird, I was taught differently. 3 carabiners on dynamic side, 2 at anchor 1 line locked. Line passes from the point of line lock to the first biner under-over back to line lock under-over then to second biner at anchor side over-under and finally back to line locked biner under-over. This way the line is only held at the line lock biner but I've never had one come undone. Takes an extra biner but it works. Nice video btw! It's nice to learn new methods

Yep... but his point is, I think, that you just have to take care not to overload the carabiner... and for a simple line, it's fine to do it like he showed; also simpler.

Can this system be used to tension highlines (maximum of 50 meters) or is it not tight enough?
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 5 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it could but it's not entirely safe. I guess if you use a rope backup it would work. The things that don't make it as safe is the carabiners are aluminum and so they don't do well with cyclic loading and are playing a key role being embedded in the line like that. Also the line lock reduces the strength of the webbing to about 50% of MBS so that's not ideal for a highline. Just buy a snatch, hangover and a weblock and buy webbing with a sewn loop on the other side and it is bomber that way

@@HowNOT2 I would say quality, so strength, precision, ease of use, flawlessness... hard to say... It would be interesting to see the comparative tests, if you already haven't done something like this. I saw the Purelock, it seems quite well made, but I never used such products so I can judge only superficially...
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 6 жыл бұрын
I like the Alpine Weblock 4.0, bomber and durable and big eye. Purelock doesn't require a shackle of any sort but difficult to pretension. Raed pro lock is great if you want to have a soft release on back side (double pin). Frog by Slack mountain is great for the price and isn't any heavier than the others considering it is a single piece of steel (vs aluminum like the AWL4.0 and Purelock. Only the Ram Lock is not that great as it doesn't pre-tension at all so if you use a linegrip and hangover to tension your lines, that one won't work. Slacktivity's seahorse is the best for pretensioning i found. Boy! I really narrowed it down for you ;). Good luck choosing between all those! haha
@VisinskiRadoviBeograd
@VisinskiRadoviBeograd 6 жыл бұрын
@@HowNOT2 😊Thanks! So the Seahorse then. It all came to simplicity of use. That in fact is the most important thing. To enjoy the process of setting up. These hangovers, how you call them are very interesting, I suppose many manufacturers make them, I'll try to find these... Take care.
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 6 жыл бұрын
Seahorse and Hangovers are both from Slacktivity. They are only ones who makes a roller right now. Webbing can slip in any weblock, make sure you tie off the tails, especially in seahorse. Slacktivity has youtube videos on how to do this. I also have a buying guide trilogy here kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGWWqJSOobdmlck...

I was curious what your opinion is about the Aluminium biners and sometimes big triload with bigger trees?
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 6 жыл бұрын
We put a dyno on a 100 foot slackline recently with a 15:1 pulley and it never went above 6kn when I walked on it (episode coming soon). I doubt this line has more than 4kn at any point and the biners are rated for 24kn. If they aren't triloaded to badly, it would be fine. This just isn't the same risk as a gibbon line wrenched tight af! haha

hey really could have thrown in 2 more extra cheapo carabiners for a multiplier. anyways I guess you have some new webbing to use as soft release
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 6 жыл бұрын
They sell a longer line that include a multiplier. This is just suppose to be the most basic kit.
@VoidMoth
@VoidMoth 6 жыл бұрын
I see but still I cant see no downside in adding 2 crappy carabiners or even 2 steel rings instead to the kit. whereas you could easily reach guitar string tensions with a multiplier, ideal for some bits of dinamic tricks like butt bounce, rocket mount, etc. I remember achieving rocket mount for the for first time as a beginner was so much fun. simple jumpy tricks entertain the beginners and this line is exactly pointed at beginners. not that I wanna change the world of slackline sales or anything I just thought that small little multiplier was missing
@HowNOT2
@HowNOT2 6 жыл бұрын
I get it. Sometimes people have those already lying around too. Primitive tension systems are already overly complicated for most people and then they just give in to ratchets which I inherently don't like because I'm not a trick liner. To add a multiplier adds 2 more biners at $15 minimum each and it is already at a beginners kit price limit. They really ought to be lockers because a newb could use the non lockers in the wrong place yada yada. It's super good enough for a newby kit haha.
@VoidMoth

I can see they are getting exponentially more complicated by the number of pieces
