Any comment on how cohousing is different from a housing co-op?
@ster26004 жыл бұрын
They are completely separate concepts. Housing co-ops are about ownership: the members (tenants) own the property they inhabit rather than renting (which benefits a landlord). Cohousing is about community and lifestyle: there will be shared area and potentially even a shared house, and the people in the community are close to each other and work together. You could have a privately owned cohousing arrangement, though it would be strange. You could also have a housing co-op that didn't have any community attached to it, though it would also be a little perculiar

why do you just not call it a corporation. a coop is incorporated correct? and a corporation can be called what ever you want and operate how you want?

I think a coops fit within the corporation model, but not all corporations fit within the coop model. So it's more of a matter of being more specific, which helps people more quickly figure out what kind of organization it is.

Regardless of my opinion on pronouns, you missed a nice talk if you're interested in co-ops. A speaker's worldview does not have to alignment with one's own in order to benefit. Actually, I find that a bit of misalignment and an open mind creates more robust solutions
