How to Set up a NEW Journal!

I start my journals by decorating the inside cover with stickers, doodles, my phone number, start date, etc. Then on the title page I add a recent photo of myself. I have one page dedicated to my journal info. The name of my journal, start and end date, where I bought it from and how much it costed, and the journal number (for example: Journal #9). Then I do a page or two dedicated on my own personal info. I write my full name, my current age, my current house address, some favorite activities, my pets, and my family. Just so I can touch up on certain info before getting into a journal so it won't be confusing reading back on in a few years. On the inside back cover, I write a poem or a list of quotes. I also attach a 2x2 piece of paper for scribbling with pens if the ink stops or something. I also number my pages. It's tedious but it's really useful!

YES! I wish that I would have started numbering my pages earlier because things get lost in my older journals! No problem at all :) I'm actually thinking about doing a Q&A video (i've never done one before!) but I usually write every day (even if it is just for 10 minutes) and my journals last anywhere from two-four months :)

You could do writing prompts, life updates, quotes, or could fil it will things you like such as stickers cool leaves pressed flowers, pretty much anything :)

I thought I would add how I normally set up my journal. I mainly do Art journals and diary journals. At first I will pick whether or not I would like to draw or paint on the cover of the journal, Then the first page I do a info page(email,phone number,etc). And normally I also like to do a past log. Which is my version of a round up of my past. Then I start the entrees! (I also write the date of how long the journal went on for on the spine.)

That is such a great question! Hmm...I don't have anything specific, but I usually try to make the last entry sum up everything that I learned during the time that I wrote in the journal! I'll think more on this and maybe make a video about it if I come up with something more concrete to share with you

To me I feel like each journal sort of takes on it's own personality, I grow attached to it as I'm writing with it, so usually the last entry is sort of a farewell. Not necessarily to the journal, but to the time that you had shaping it into what it's become. You'll always have it once it's done, like an old friend you can sit down with it and flip through and all of that. Actually, the last few pages of my first journal (or the earliest one that I still have might be more precise) I left blank, to give myself space to come back in a few years or however long and write and reflect on how much I'd maybe changed since working in that first journal. Could be fun for you, provided you haven't already finished it in the month since you posted this comment.

You don't need paints equipment for journaling I mean if you want to use them cool. But you can use your journal however you want to..use it you can Draw Paint Write Use Stickers Make collages with magazines Etc. Write poems , songs , write stories You can do whatever you want in your journal. There are so many ways to use a journal. Express yourself however you want too in your journal. The journal is for your eyes only. It's private and it's a sanctuary for your life and secrets.
