How To Set-Up a Static IP Address

This is a simple tutorial on how to set up a static IP (Internet Protocol) Address.

Q: What is a static IP?
A: As your computer's connects to the LAN (Local Area Network) or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) it is assigned a IP address. For example when I connected to my internet I'm givin the IP adress 192.168.0.5. Then the next time I log on I get 192.168.0.3.
So when you set up a static IP, it just means when you connect to the internet the IP address won't change. People use this most often for port forwarding server's and game's.

@Kuldeep Singh Hey there, sorry for the 3 month delayed response. A static IP basically means that you tell your home router what you demand your private (not external) IP address to be, and this way it allows other people to join servers, etc that you host. I do not understand the second question. There is really only one type of private IP address. TCP/IP is basically a combination of protocols that allow computers and server to communicate over the network. I hope I was able to answer some of your questions.

uh it says my wireless network is unconnected, is there anyway to use the local network instead?

in my case it is not showing default gateway so how to get default gateway

You have to type ipconfig /all That's how you see it all.
