Thanks for the setup and wiring help. A shim demonstration would be helpful.

Great video! Been playing for 45 years, and I have ended up preffering the exact same setup on my Fender guitars as yours, and I use the same for slide (B, C, D & E open tunings!). Great to be vindicated - you da man!

My preference is for very little relief on all of my guitars. My way of checking if it's where I want it is to fret the first and fourteenth frets. Then I push the sixth string down at the fifth fret. What I want is to hear a ”click” indicating a very slight space between the string and the fretboard. Then I do the same on the first string as well. If I hear the “click” on both strings, I'm good. If I can feel it move more than that, or see a larger space, it’s time for a truss-rod adjustment. Yeah, I hate the heel truss-rod adjustment, too, but what the hell? To get to the heel truss-rod screw head on a Tele you don’t have to take the neck off. Just remove the pickguard to expose the screw end. You can do this without removing the strings, just unscrew it and slide it off. On a Strat, it’s a different matter as removing the pickguard which holds the pickups means that the strings must be removed as well. Some carve a little semi-circle out of the Strat’s pickguard at the truss-rod screw so that a screwdriver can get in there, but this is not likely something that most owners would do on a pristine vintage piece. I was fortunate as a former owner of my ’62 had done this already, although I wouldn’t hesitate to carve that little semi-circle into the pickguard on a new one. It’s a bit of a chore to get a screwdriver end in there, but it works, and I don’t have to take the neck off of that Strat to adjust the truss rod.

I enjoy your vedios! Can you make a vedio on sitting up a new neck. I would like to buy a guitar new neck ,but do not know about getting a neck that fits my Telecaster body?

Question: since you had to change your intonation, should you go back to adjust your string action since adjusting the intonation will change the length of the string and theoretically the string action Therefore looping between string action and intonation until both are set to the desired value desired value.

Some tips on setting up a lightning bar wrap tail bridge would be great. Just got a great deal on an Epiphone IBG Les Paul Special. 2024 model. I'm disabled and financially challenged, but going to save up for one of your P90's. Gonna' take a while, but I'll get there.

Shouldn't you set the string height before measuring the nut?
@avalanchekiddoАй бұрын
I'm a newbie, but I've also heard this. Does the order matter at all?
@markpell89795 ай бұрын
Seems like your initial nut slot heights had .016 for the G. After you filed the nut slots you said all strings had .020 clearance. Did you fill the G slot or just leave that one at 16 and call it good? Because actually that wouldn't be bad.

How far can you bend on the high e before it frets out? Whole setup, step and a half? (Around the 12th fret)

As far as I want really

@@DylanTalksTone I have the mahogany version, but can’t reach 2 whole steps even with high action. One whole step is tough with low action.
