I have a spare bedroom that we are turning into a storage room. Almost a year ago I started dreaming about God having Joseph prepare for 7 years of famine. It took me a while to get that God was pressing me on what to do, but I finally got a clue and started prepping. Only I believe the Holy Spirit is telling me to prepare for 2 years. Just this morning I opened my Bible at random, and once again I opened to when God had Joseph prepare for famine. I feel it so deeply, I can't not prepare. God bless! God is so so good!

I feel this exact same way! 2 years. Sadly my husband does not want us to fill up our home with food or clutter because he doesn't want bins or buckets around. Please pray for us! He's a Christian but not actively seeking God on this. I don't want to go against God wishes but we have children and both our parents living nearby. They are our responsibility.

@@juliabrown5948 My husband is a believer, too. He's just not in the same growth as me. We have to keep praying for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes and hearts of our spouses. It's slowly working with mine. I trust God completely to take care of us, and He will. Your belief will cover your family, God promises it.

I stocked up ! Husband and two grown kids complained when I stuffed under beds closets and every nook and cranny…my answer ? My house my rules my paycheck! So glad I listened to the lord when he told me get prepared grow! Raise meat! I only have a half acre so hens for laying and a 8x26 leanto for meat chickens. It took me 2 years to get prepared and I fear I don’t have enough! No one else in my family has prepared instead labeled me crazy I fear for them as they didn’t move to the country like I did but live in a large city. What I fear is they will wait to last minute then flea houston trying to come here empty handed…I would take them in but that will make my prepping not last long at all. Trying to buy a lot more staples and grow as much as I can, dehydrating as much veggies as I can now b4 my garden is ready to harvest as until they are on the shelf anything can happen to garden.

@@danielleterry180 I worried at first about how we would do it if family were to come over. My house, my rules. You said it! Assign chores for everyone. Have lists of things that need to be handled on a homestead. They would need to bring their a game to our tables in order to eat. And, as I said, I was concerned at first, too. But God reminded me that He fed over 5000 with just a loaf of bread and a few fishes. And could He not do the same for me? Has He not been showing me these last months that He will provide? So, I quit worrying. If we are faithful to God and we have faith, He will sustain us.

Wow, such a confirmation for me to read this now. I just wrote a letter to a family member who was questioning my prepping, she told me to just have faith. Yah showed me to prep 7 years ago, in 2015. I had started but I was so alone in my walk that I became discouraged and stopped. Thank Yah ge showed me again about 1,5/2 years ago, so I could pick up again. In my letter I was explaining that faith is good but that prepping is also biblical. I explained about Joseph. Then I gave her this verse: And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same. Genesis 41:48 I then said: maybe God has little Josephs everywhere now. And as I was saying that, God revealed me that this is so. I heard a lot of people say to get out of the cities, and that bothered me because I have no means to do so. But now I can see by His revelation, that just as how Joseph stored up food in the cities, He now has told many little Josephs to prep with food. And these will also be in the cities (also other places I am sure). What has been done will be done again, there is nothing new under the sun. This is how He provides for His people. He did it back then, He does it now. There will be plagues like then with pharaoh and did you know the bible teaches a second/greater exodus? That will come after. So great, nobody will be talking about the first exodus like we do now anymore, it says. I had dreams like Joseph also, and just like him, my family did not really take them serious and maybe even felt threatened by it (like: who do you think you are?). So I learned to keep my mouth shut. But all puzzle pieces are coming together these days. The 7 fat years are over, we are heading for a huge famine.

I bought oodles of mylar bags as soon as the covid shutdown began. Expanded the garden and started stocking up. Now I just replace what I use and cycle things forward. I also bought manual equipment. A full set of cast iron everything for cooking. Manual kitchen tools (think about there being no electricity. Hand can openers, mixers, beaters, blenders, food processors, pasta makers, etc), and more old style tools in the garage.

I rent a small place without central ac (just have units). During the Summer months, despite black out curtains, fans etc, my kitchen is warm. So I made my office (equipped with ac) into a walk in pantry. I still keep things like kitchen gadgets etc in the kitchen but nothing that can be affected by high temps. I LOVE those racks! I have several of them. I need to look into those garbage cans! Great find!

Thank you for this video. Just fyi for anyone watching- putting things on top of your Home Canned items is NOT safe. The stuff sitting on top of the lids will cause the lid to reseal after a lid has failed - giving you a false seal to a very contaminated and dangerous food. Even the most experienced canners have had lids fail, but they know how to store, inspect, & rotate it so that they can deal with it safely.

@@fourdayhomestead2839 Just fyi, after I researched it more, NCHFP/UGA actually does not recommend against it. But they do recommend removing rings (for the same reason that I and many others recommend not stacking). So it seems very inconsistent to many of us. But just wanted to note that the NCHFP *currently* does not warn against it, although it recommends some precautions when doing it.

Thank you so much for sharing, Texas Mom! This looks like a great solution for your needs and space! I know you rotate/use up your dry goods much quicker than most families. Do you deal with mice in your pantry? Those plastic cans are sadly not chew proof, fyi for anyone who has mice! The large black tubs with yellow lids from Costco/home Depot seem to hold up to mice. 🤞 Just a heads up for everyone who thinks this would be a long term solution. To keep things longer than 6 months or a year you need to REMOVE OXYGEN and prevent pests and rodents from getting in. Vacuum seal bags or vacuum sealed mason jars are a great option for smaller amounts as well. 👍

I would like to know more on how you store your cashews. We’re also a dairy free household and use a lot of cashews, nuts and seeds. (Luckily, no nut allergies here) I usually only keep 2 months worth because I’m afraid of them going bad. Cashew cream is amazing! Wild rice soup in the ipot with cashew cream stirred in is amazing! Take onion, garlic, celery, zucchini and dice them all up. Then add chunks of potatoes and carrot, one cup of cooked garbanzo beans, 1 cup of wild rice( can use blend of brown to make it go farther), bay leaves, thyme1/2 to 1 tsp ground) and 2 tbsp homemade vegetable bouillon and fill to max line on ipot with veg broth. Cook on high for 25 min. Let it naturally release. Soak and blend 1 cup cashews into cashew cream. Stir cashew cream into wild rice soup and enjoy 😊 I’m thinking of another fridge or freezer just for nuts, but would love a video with any suggestions on storage and what you do!

I love, love, love the gamma lid containers that are at an angle that you recommended! I keep my pasta in two of them. I actually don’t take it out of the boxes since it’s spaghetti or fettuccine and would easily break. It stacks so well inside the containers. I used to use totes, the stacking and unstacking made it difficult to use. So the angled gamma lids are a life changer! The big thing is that it keeps the critters out, but I can easily get in! I’m moving so on hold for any purchases, but looking forward to setting up my new food storage. I need to buy a bunch of the metal shelves, do you have a recommendation for where to buy them and best sizes. I don’t have access to Sam’s, but do have Costco although I haven’t seen them there…

How long do your cashews last? I want to buy a few pounds to save on cost but not if they will go rancid before I can use them up. We don't have much refrigeration and little climate control. We live in an RV and just don't have "normal" amenities yet. Our pantry consists of an outdoor storage shed. We insulated it as much as possible but don't keep meat or anything sensitive to temp swings in it. We have a few cans of pineapple but have them in plastic bags - just in case! Sunflower seeds, onion sets and pumpkin seeds have done just fine. But I'm wary of cashews. What sort of storage time do you (or anyone else) get from cashews in your space? I can guesstimate from that accounting for our shed environment. Thanks.

Hey Guys. Late and off topic but I was wondering if you guys use a weed blocker mesh in your garden? If so, could you recommend a brand that you guys had success with? We’re open suggestions right now. Thank you!

Mylar bags now have a zipper.
@juliabrown5948
@juliabrown5948 2 жыл бұрын
💥💥💥BUT Do not use the zipper to seal for long term!! THEY WON'T WORK. The zipper is only for when you have opened your previously sealed food and didn't finish it all. The bags still need to be heat sealed above the zipper on order to be airtight!! I had the same confusion! 💥💥💥
@jenniferrosario1489
@jenniferrosario1489 2 жыл бұрын
@@juliabrown5948 indeed they need to be heat sealed. I find them more practical than the regular mylar bags

We get by with only coconut oil. However, for baking we do like the plant based butters. But they have to be refrigerated or frozen.
