How To Set Up A USB Switch For Cronus Zen With Mouse & Keyboard

Some additional tips to assist with setup: If you don't want to leave a controller plugged into A1, from the Device menu select Xbox 360 controller so that your Xen properly identifies as a controller and in-game (confirmed in MW2) will be able to select Controller or M&K. You'll be able to switch to 'PC' mode to navigate menus and create classes, etc, then just hotswap back to Xen to play. Reduces clutter of having another controller on your desk / play area. This also reduces power being drawn from the Xen if you are having any issues with that from RGB peripherals or no 5v aux plugged in. For the 5v aux, you can also plug that into any other USB slot (such as on the back of a monitor) and it will draw additional power from there if you are in need. if you are still having issues with connectivity, don't ask me why it works but it does, use another Male-to-Male USB cable and connect A2 or A3 (whichever front port isn't connected from Xen to USB Hub) to a USB port on your desktop computer. It's possibly some extra juice that could be needed or fills some type of data gap. A super important part, whether using the switch or just plugging directly in, is verifying your mouse is using on-board memory profiles (may not be enabled by default) and you have a profile properly set up for whatever DPI you'll be using for the Xen profiles. If you set up your DPI in G Hub while it's connected to PC, when you switch over to the Xen it may not carry over that same DPI setting so it is vital that you use an on-board profile otherwise you will never get a smooth sensitivity in-game.

Im looking into this because when I connect my ps5 vitrix controller with the wire it disconnects after a couple seconds because the Cronus doesn’t supply enough power for both controllers. So if I buy one of these devices and connect the PC end to the back of the ps5 and connect the vitrix controller to it, it will work properly right??? And btw I don’t use the controller with the wireless usb dongle because the delay is too much.

Yo iam having an issue where the mouse just feels really weird and sluggish. It’s unusable. My dpi is set to the highest at 12000. I copied your Cronus button inputs and it still feels very bad. Help

My button inputs aren't going to affect what your mouse feels like. It's probably the polling rate or maybe you're using a mouse that isn't compatible.

I only issue that I have is when pressing the button on the usb switch to change back from keyboard to zen, the sensitivity is all over the place. It takes a few swipes and rotations with the mouse to get back to where it's supposed to be. Also the mouse DPI resets so it also needs to be set back too.

Yeah mine takes a couple of seconds before switching back to the standard 1600dpi I use. If the DPI is completely resetting every time then you'll need to sort something with the onboard memory of your mouse.

But when I leave the input at 1 on the switch I am able to adjust my mods and everything. Profile 1 shows only shows Joypad/Ps4 console on connected devices; I am able to do everything on the same input while being on switch #1 so do I even need a switch to begin with?

I cant find a solution to this anywhere, but when i connect a controller to a1 it doesn’t actually connect. It’ll act like its just connected to a power source looking to bluetooth connect to something. Ive tried both an xb1 and xb1x controller

so my issue is that i set up the you described (which worked) but when i switch to use my keyboard (corsair k100) as a controller my mouse works fine but my keyboard is acting unplugged no RGB no function. it has 2 usb ports so i plugged them in to the switch and my mouse is in the keyboard. does anyone else have this issue

I think you have one of those keyboards that's detected as both a mouse and keyboard. You'll need to add one to the ignore list in Zen Studio.

Open up Zen Studio with Zen plugged in, go to the device tab and change the emulator output protocol to pc/mobile or Xbox 360.

I would like to add since i think it's worth noting that the actual zen switch says "Input: 4 USB 2.0 ports (Mouse & Keyboard) Output: 2 USB 2.0 ports (Zen & PC) - As i purchased a 2 Input 4 Output. So i'm not 100% sure if this is the reason for mine not working correctly. But have purchased the Zen Switch i'll let you know once i receive it.

yo! I had the same issue. I put my M&K in slots 1 and 2 for Output and then put Cronus in Input 1 and PC in Input 2.. it works great.

It’s just I want to plug in my zen and keyboard switch in a different usb plug for cable management purposes… so do I have to follow all these steps again or can I just unplug the zen and keyboard switch and plug em to a different usb port without taking all the other cables off the zen/keyboard switch? This needs an update. These instructions no longer work. The zen is not being detected after plugging in the first usb from the zen to the switch. It wont even allow me to switch between them. It only works when I plug in the micro (or is it mini?) usb from the top of the zen port to the switch usb slots in the front. And even having figured this out it still doesnt not work with my games. In the device section, once I switch to the zen it detects the kb&m but they dont work while in game.

I'm 99% sure that if I walked back in my door right now and turned my PC on that it would work. In my experience. Comments like these are usually from people that didn't set it up properly in the first place and instead of admitting they're wrong. Blame someone else. I guarantee it works fine.

I'm not even sure this is worth it man. Sometimes I want aim assist like controller players have, but tbh... buying the Zen, and setting it up and all that...then having to switch like this every time I want to play COD. Meh...not sure. I'm pretty decent on Mkb, but some days my aim is just off and if your aim is just off in MW2 you get wrecked by controller players and end up in bot lobbies...or my DPI is feeling weird (tbh I think they actually fvcked us on Mkb because things don't always feel consistent in this game, or maybe it's just me idk)...and I just want some aim assistance, I'm not trying to learn to play an fps game with a controller...I think they should have an aim assist setting for Mkb players as well tbh...I mean they are going the whole casual direction with mw2. You don't have to do this. You can always use 2 mice and 2 keyboards. "Switch like this every time I want to play cod". This makes it seem like you think you need to do this whole set up every time you want to play cod which isn't the case. You set this up once and simply just need to press the button on the switch when you want the mouse and keyboard to be recognised as a controller. The switch is always sitting on my desk all set up. It's a simple one button press to get it all working.

Button mappings are probably mixed up. You'll need to fix them in Zen Studio. On the mnk tab.

@@WayneO_ I think the problem is when moving the mouse down it presses the "Y" Button. I'm having the same issue now. When i looked in Device monitor and pull the mouse down i can see it's pressing the "Y" Button that switches weapons. I imported your Mouse and Key Settings so i don't think that's the issue. I think the mouse is being detected as a Mouse and keyboard at the same time, and we need to add it to the ignore list to stop this. But how do you do that if it doesn't list your mouse or keyboard when it's plugged into the switch?

This is all I could find on that. It's from the Cronus guide. "If your keyboard also outputs as a MOUSE (see image below), you will first need to add it to the device ignore list before continuing (see Ignore Device instructions in the next step). @@WayneO_ yeah I've read through it. The cronus is a very picky piece of hardware. Because I'm using the same wireless mouse and keyboard that worked before on it, to now experiencing the same issue this guy has. Definitely have to play around with it for awhile to try and iron out all the issues.

The one I got was from a small electronics store in Australia. You just need to type ''PC USB switch'' in Amazon and you'll be able to choose whatever one you want. :)

Nothing is being detected inside of MW2 is the thing. I followed your steps, my MNK is registering fine inside of Cronus itself, i tested it out all the keys are working, mouse is working. Not sure if it has to do with some other setting inside Cronus, its setup as output - AUTO, Remote slot change-DISABLE. All the cords are plugged in correctly by following your guide. I have no clue whats going on, everything and the cords are plugged in correctly by following your guide. I have no clue whats going on, any tips? @@WayneO_ That did let me change it to controller inside MW2 but i use a PS4 controller, i dont have a XBOX 360 one and when i change it to PS4/PS5 under auto, it wont let me change it to controller inside MW2. Also cant move my mouse inside MW2 either after using it on XBOX 360. No clue.

How do you change values for the Script using a MNK? is it the same way for like a controller? Just use the X controller key you have binded on your MNK, etc?

It's so you don't have to use 2 keyboards and 2 mice if you're using Zen with mnk on PC. You can just press the button on the switch and it'll switch between a normal mouse and keyboard and being detected as a controller.
